Now that you're thinking of frugality as accumulating wealth, instead doing with out, here's another tip that just might help you make your outlook a little greener.
Simply stop paying your bills! Yes, you read that right. Now, before you scream at the computer..."YOU'RE COMPLETELY INSANE, I CAN'T STOP PAYING MY BILLS!" Please read on.
Just the thought of paying bills, especially when money is tight, is to say the least stressful and depressing. As you gather your bills, instead of thinking you're stuck with all these bills, here goes all my money, try thinking about it this way instead.
You're not sitting down to "pay bills." You're sitting down to do the "accounting." You're taking an accounting of all the "resources" you've been lucky enough to have access to over the last month.
And since these companies have been willing to "share" their resources with you, you are more than willing to share your "resources" with them. It's simply an exchange of resources.
Now, if you find yourself with very limited resources you'll need to do a thorough accounting of all the resources you've been using. This will help you to decide if they are all absolutely necessary.
If not then it's time to take a "green" approach and start reducing the amount of resources you're using. This will help you to gain control and begin to accumulate more wealth to meet your goals for you and your family.
It takes a bit of practice but once you're able to see paying your bills from this perspective, it makes it a lot less stressful.
