I love both singers anyway. Hmmmm. I'd have to say the Tim McGraw really made the song work with his crackly country voice.

This is simply not a country song so even though I'm not a big fan of Elton John now, he made some good music back then, this was one of those.

Elton John annoys me. I like the Tim McGraw better, though it's certainly not my favorite of his songs.
One of my favorite songs, and it's got to be Elton John for me.

I have Elton John's Greatest hit album so I love all his songs!
Of course I love Tim McGraw's music also. And, have his Greatest hits album too.
So, who gets my vote?
After listening to both, I have to say Elton John.
His voice just compliments the song better.

The original is always better Elton John of course. Quite frankly I find trite and tarnished when Country music stars, despite their looks, can never come up with their own music so they have to try and "re-do" classics.

Jennifer it is not just country stars. People from all genres of music do it. A Lot of country music is original music that other people have redone. Many classic songs were originally written in the 1930's. Even Elvis had remade classic country songs.
