January 2009 Snow Storm in Ohio

We are under a Sever Weather Alert here in Central Ohio; as is most of the North Eastern region of the United States.

We had freezing rain last night, which became blanketed with snow throughout the morning.

Reports tells us to expect 3 to 8 inches by the end of the day.

Schools and some businesses are closed.

My County is under a Level 2 Snow Emergency.

Some other counties in Ohio are under a Level 3 Snow Emergency.

From the looks of our local weather radar, it would seem that the storm is almost over.

My neighbors give me that wry smile because I think snow is So Cool !!

Yeah, Wil and I both got a snow day today. Had a laugh watching my neighbors dig out to go someplace this morning and again this afternoon. Their car is still sitting there. I don't know if anything is open yet.

Em Jay -- Being the chivalrous dude that I am, I went out and chipped the ice off the car before Donna went to work. It was better than a quarter inch thick. Luckily I didn't have to do any digging.

Here too in nortwestern Indiana, some towns close to us snowfall so far is over 7 inches, don't know what we have though, we live in a rural area with no really local reports. It is all that lake effect. Thanks for posting.

It looks like Saint Louis. We got it too. There was snow first, then sleet, then ice, and then more snow. Staying inside today, but would be out if I did not have a cold. Parts of the city are without power, as well as other parts of the State. I don't think we are alone, and I understand up East is gonna get it good/bad, depending on how you look at it.

Used to love getting snowed in with the kids out in the country. Here in the city it is pretty, but gets messy so fast. I loved the pictures, great time to watch movies in your pjs. It was nice to hear you went out and chipped ice of Donna's windows. Stay warm and safe.. Like I said, it is ok to look at now, but I am looking forward to wearing sandals and the beach.. Ellen B

And to think I missed all of it except my commute, which was hairy to say the least. My last stretch of 11 miles was unsalted, unplowed and treacherous in my itty bitty car.
Sure is gorgeous though....I'm estimating about a foot, maybe more in spots.
Dontcha just LOVE a man who will get up sat 6AM and go dig your car out for ya...I know I do./

Loved looking at your photos. We awoke to snow and it's snowed hard all day today and is still going. Fortunately we didn't have the freezing rain first. Thank goodness its light and fluffy and easy to shovel. I agree it's beautiful!

Great pics. We actually had snow here in SC last week. the schools were closed and everything! but we come from NJ, so 1/2 in of snow to us wasn't worth closing the schools for. Oh well! the kids were happy

Nice job on the photos.

We are cold, for Texas, (freezing rain I think it's called sleet) but only in the evening. It warmed up to the low 70's during the day.

Heading out to work, this morning, it was 28 degrees, and everything had a layer of ice on it.

The weather here in Georgia is positively psychotic! (or at least split personality!) One day it's freezing rain (as they don't do snow here) and the next day it's a balmy 70 degrees... It's enough to send a person running for the zoloft AND the Xanex. I'd take the good ol' snow any day.

Nice photos. Near the lake here in Ohio we got about a foot of snow yesterday. It came down faster than you could clear.

Bill - over 20" in C-bus already this month!

My windshield has a 2 foot crack in it
The water is puddling in the ceiling over my head
But at least its not -12 degrees anymore!!!

"Snowstorm History" pictures are cool. I have a few of these where I took pictures at the start, middle, and end of the storm. I also have a folder called "There might be a storm," where I took the start pictures, and then nothing happened.
