There are times in history
That have left it's mark upon the world
Some still cloaked in mystery
As in who assassinated Kennedy
We know who shot Abraham Lincoln
For he showed his face on stage
We recognized Martin Luther King
For his contributions to this age
We've seen people climb to greatness
Who might never have been given a chance
A crippled President FDR, took us through a war
No one gave his covered legs a second glance
I could go on recalling people
That have listened to their own drum
Some will be remembered favorably
Some blasted to Kingdom Come
Now we have a new chance
So many things need to be changed
I watched a couple sway and dance
At many balls arranged
Our hopes are high for his promises
To relieve the world from floundering misery
This new man's character, and his youth
Will determine in his own time, his destiny

This is a lovely poem. All yours are. I really do not know how you do it. But, of course, you are also an artist - and you nearly went to art school, and would have become a famous artist had it not been for WWII....

Thanks for the great poem, excellent as always, have a wonderful day beautiful lady! Ellen B
About how he looks at her, the positive energy flowing between them is visibile.
Heck of a job he has on his hands.
I also like the way the 'first couple'
look at each other. I think he really
believes what he said in his campain,
the test will be if he can get it all done.
I am hopeful that things will get better
in our country and in the world and I sure
hope he can do it.
