I have to start by telling you that I am not, by nature, a negative person. So, it's going to be rather hard to come up with 10 negative thoughts that I must shed.
We'll start with the obvious:
1 - I can't lose weight.......no, I will lose weight and feel better in the process, and no doubt LOOK fantastic.
2 - I look fine the way I am - NO I DO NOT! Let's be honest here, I've looked in the mirror!
3 - It's only a number - yes, it's a number, and it's a much larger number than it should be.
4. I won't fit into a bikini - so why bother? YOu are at the beach almost every day! Don't you want to at least look better?
5. It's going to be a constant battle, so why bother? Why indeeed? Because it is a battle worth winning, and if you do it correctly, you will learn to eat differently and think differently and then it won't always be a battle, it will be a way of life.
6. I won't win I WILL win this. The smell of banana bread and brownies in this house is killing me. My mother bakes almost every day during the winter and in the past 3 weeks, no one homemade piece of brownie or banana bread has passed my lips! Rice cakes ARE my friend.
7. It's too much work. Actually, making healthier foods is alot LESS work than I am used to.
8. Sweets will be my downfall. Sweets ARE my downfall, I just have to turn that thinking around and only have a mouthful, and become to enjoy the healthier alternatives.
9. Diet food is tasteless. It doesn't have to be, as I am finding out. Lots of herbs and spices, and we are good to go.
10. I want a piece of Tiramisu!!! Yes! Yes, I do. But I havae to tell you that I had the skinniest little piece for my birthday and enjoyed it and gave the rest away!

I'm unsure about the term diet food...but in this group our emphasis is on eating fresh fruits and vegetables for starters. Also, drinking 8 glasses of water a day, preferably with lemon and also moving 30 minutes a day. After that, what you eat is up to you. In time, as your body adjusts to water, you'll start wanting to eat better - realize that its better to eat brown rice, bread, pasta, quit the red meat if you feel it unwise, etc. We also want everyone to get off of sodas and fast food as a way of life. Remember once you begin moving and burning calories, that piece of tiramisu will be much more enjoyable!
Ok my friend - all the very best - I hope that this group helps you and we're all here to support your efforts! Salud
Dessert is A weakness for me, but it is much harder for me to turn down cheese of any kind. I do find that eating a small slice with a large cut-up Granny Smith apple as a mid-afternoon snack helps, as does letting the cheese come to room temperature for full flavor.
Above all, I tell myself (as I pass by the box of donuts, brownies or Girl Scout cookies in the breakroom with eyes averted) "there will be more in my future; some day I will have another __insert sugary food of choice__ , just NOT TODAY.
Chris, you've one up on a lot of folks, you're already positive! :-)
