If Only I Could Help

My ex totaled his car a few days ago by smashing into a tow truck. What interesting crash, I know. He's okay but now he needs a new car... or more like a USED car under $5000. At the point though he doesn't have any credit to get a loan and looks like he will need to get a second job in order to buy this car. How he'll get to that job, I'm not sure. I feel pretty bad for him because I know I would be stuck if I were in the same position. I'm not sure what I can do to help him out. Any ideas?

I don't agree with the above comments just because someone is your ex does not mean you have to be on bad terms with them or that you don't have to care about them. I think it is wonderful that you want to help. Is he getting any money from the insurance company? I don't have any ideas but if I think of anything I'll come back and post it.

Does he have any friends that could give him rides to work or when he needs to go to the store? You could offer to drive him sometimes to work or if your heading to the store ask if he needs anything and he could come.

Tell him to check one of those buy here pay here places. Most places like that don't require good credit, just a down payment.
