(CNN) - Radio host Rush Limbaugh said Monday that President Obama is "frightened of me."
"He's obviously more frightened of me than he is [Senate Minority Leader] Mitch McConnell," Limbaugh told listeners. "He's more frightened of me, then he is of say, [House Minority Leader] John Boehner, which doesn't say much about our party."
So Limbaugh now constitutes the most important voice of the Republican Party, according to Llimbaugh- the other guys don't have the sand to work for the political destruction of a recently elected president with a 68% approval rating. So, according to Limbaugh, Barack Obama is scared of Limbaugh- as a political rival, rather than an ugly force for disunity, base passions, reflexive and unthinking prejudice, and chaos, within our political sphere.
Personally, I think we should all be scared. Not of Limbaugh himself who is an uneducated dork, but rather of the fact that there are still, after all these years, after the drug abuse episode and the obvious examples of hypocrisy, millions of us who consider him the ultimate font of wisdom. That's spooky.

But, enjoy it while it lasts and see ya in the soup lines, you'll be there and won't be singing the praises of stupid, wasteful spending.....
For the first time in my life, I actually might find myself agreeing with Al Franken.
I would also like to know why Limbaugh was so mysteriously allowed to duck out of the federal case against him for buying, abusing, and selling prescription drugs. The government had a 100% conviction going for him and suddenly it was dropped and disappeared from a the news media.
The problem is that there are a very vocal minority of ideologues that believe they speak for the Republican party (and the same is true for the Democratic party). These people don't think, don't represent anything in particular because they don't actually formulate intelligent positions on any topic, and don't offer anything constructive. They merely yell louder and more obnoxiously than others. And they simplify every discussion into a black or white choice so they can manipulate their fellow non-thinking minions with a "you're either with us or against us" mentality.
It's time for the thinking Republicans and Democrats to retake control of their respective parties. We elect our representatives to represent us, not their party, not themselves, and not the television and radio entertainers who rake in millions by playing for fools the very people who watch and listen to them. It's time everyone got a clue.
Actually, I think my original comment is still valid, with the exception that I had hoped that the Republican leadership would stand up and, well, lead the party. Clearly on that I gave them way too much credit. As I've suggested in a couple of my recent posts, I believe the Republican party has become a joke. While the sudden minority party status tends to put them into the wilderness, this time is seems the Republicans are shooting blindly at anyone who tries to take the initiative to lead them out of it. That is a travesty and why I've called for honest Republicans to take back control of their party.
I would agree that the Congressional Republicans have done little to forward US policy in any area (okay, they've been actively obstructionist), but I think it goes beyond that. Minority parties tend not to be too helpful because they think if things seem to be working the voters aren't likely to put them back in the majority. But this time the Republicans seem to have dropped any pretense of integrity. It's not just that they argue for "conservative principles" (which they themselves ignored while in power), it's that they seem to have no qualms about making up the most outrageous and ridiculous lies (see "death panels") to further their goal of getting reelected. They've wittled their base down to the most partisan elements, the ones who are happy to latch onto anything that demonizes the other side, even if the lie is so unbelievable that it would make most people think they've gone crazy to believe it. Even that just feeds the paranoia ("he calls me racist/anti-American/dishonesty because I oppose Obama's policies" when in fact the person is being called racist/anti-American/dishonest because they are exhibit racist/anti-American/dishonest behavior).
No matter what happens the Republicans are almost certain to win back some Congressional seats next year (based more on logistics than ideology), which unfortunately will feed the frenzy and the party will be lost in the wilderness even longer. I suspect it will be the 2012 presidential election where they will realize that they need a different plan, which will make the 2016 presidential election more open ended.
Until then:
When Did the Republican Party Become Anti-American?
The Growing Dishonesty of the Republican Party
Actually, while I think his comment was offhand and not planned, I doubt that he regrets it. In a way its a bit of a challenge to the Congressional leadership. Obama mentioned Limbaugh only as the epitome of the loudmouth non-thinking ideological wing of the Republican party. Obama has given the Republican leadership a chance to lead for the benefit of the country.
Both the Republican and Democratic leadership have the chance to show whether they are small (ideologues) or big (willing to work to actually govern this country). The choice they make will affect whether they are reelected (big) or tossed by the wayside (small).
Like I say if OBAMA, doesn't like Rush, who cares, has it come to the point where everyone MUST like a president who lied so much and got "block" voter's who didn't even know why, they voted for him.
Well anyway see you'll in the long DemO bread lines, and soup kitchens $60,000 a year income won't even get it...but since you OBAMA endorsers know it all, FINE. Glad your prepared actually you just sound rather ignorant of what's going on and how tragic it is, do to OBAMA-RITES, well good luck.
I will say, I told ya so!
Ha, ha, ha, ha!
Rubbish Limpbrains TELLS you what to think.
BTW...you can ALWAYS tell where some people get their "news"(?) just by reading their comments...LOL And I will say, I told You so!
That is one of the most ridiculous things I think I've ever seen on Gather..or anywhere for that matter.
I couldn't have made the point any better than you have, Chris. It is a sad state in this country when a loud-mouthed, ignorant, petty, sarcastic, do-nothing-but-stir-up-trouble, fake 'entertainer' like Limbaugh can actually have so many people willing to waste their time, energy and brain cells listening to his rants. He is at the par of a National Enquirer. Yes, he has every right in this country to spout off his venom and ignorance. And people have the right to listen to him. It is very sad, though, that it actually happens. There are many 'rights' we enjoy in this country...unfortunately the right to fill your life with 'crap' - unhealthy food, ignorance, wastefulness, wantonness, spite and hate - qualify just as much as the good stuff.
You are what you listen to, people. You are what you eat. You are the friends you surround yourself with. You are the books you read, the broadcast media you watch & listen to.
As they say in the IT world - GIGO (GARBAGE IN, GARBAGE OUT).
Ha, ha, ha. Am I making a fool of myself sitting in my office all alone and laughing right out loud. Rush Limbaugh makes people laugh. He's an entertainer, the more outrageous, the more money he makes. Where did he get his degree again?
On a serious note, anyone who states that they hope America fails (because why, it will help his ratings?) is not my idea of a real American. I remember when anyone who dared critique Bush was accused by Bushbots of secretly hoping America would fail. And this guy thinks he has license to come right out and say it? He should be tarred and feathered. I'm against torture, but I could make an exception. Bring back the stockades. Put a hood over his head and send a few volts through his genitals. That's where his brain is anyhow.
Don't forget adle-minded corpo-whoredom.
10.
You have way too much faith in humanity, Linda. The exact same tactics were used in Rwanda to kill of an entire ethnic population. They almost succeeded. The power of evil minds with media access over small minds with potentially evil hearts is beyond logic and normal people's ability to imagine.
This is true. He mobilizes lazy people to think the same nasty, uninformed, bushit he spews.
Rush LIMBAUGH, mobilizes people to think
This is true. He mobilizes lazy people to think the same nasty, uninformed, bushit he spews
Beautifully said, Sandy!
We are already there, feeding people who can't think, who don't care to learn, and who blame the "libs" for their own refusal to vote in their best interest.
You are ever more delusional than W.
Let's all get together and attack, Christians, now, what else, who else, and most importantly why else, Sandy?
Of course, we are here among the "INFORMED", so I can see that, as a result we don't realize that when it comes to giving and community service (that's "real" volunteer community service") the CONSERVATIVE'S far outnumber the LIB'S,..STRANGE, their "endless" bragging, WHY?
Somehow I don't see Limbaugh dishing soup though. Seems to me he would be more likely to slap the person holding the soup bowl and roar Get a Job you ****.
Cheap soup anyone and look who's talking. I'll be waiting till hell freezes over before I see one of these LIB, liars and braggers eating at McDonald's, might harm their health, they should be given birth control, and those who pay taxes should foot the bill.
AMAZING, and dangerous.
Ha,ha
He does the opposite, when have you heard him debate anyone? CNN invited him to explain his Obama Fail rant, he refused, he's a scaredy cat, he's afraid they might ask him something that is not in the script.
He's a coward who exploits the dim witted.
Limpaugh was caught smuggling viagra, among other things. The Repukes lost the election, Limpaugh is impotent in more ways than one.
....mobilizes people to think? ha. ha. You made my day.
no problems,
ask her a tough question, off she goes in a huff, looking for her stupid groupies, to applaud any stupidly that comes out of that JACKSON mouth, for the poor, yeah right, and she really looks like it.
She should demO- birth control personally. Save the US from all those inferior California children, who lol she claims she pays for -I guess? Could have fooled me.
I am not a Democrat and I used to call myself a Republican. I am impressed with Obama openly seeking to interact with Republicans and Conservatives. This is something I did not see from the Republicans over the last 8 years.
I can note as many foolish agenda held by the Republicans as the Democrats. What I wish to seek to limit is the imposition of the foolish agendas of either side and increase the ideal that we need to be working for the nation as a whole, not just special interests. Obama at least has made an effort, can you?
Do you people KNOW any other OR new words,.. "divisiveness" is outdated, used to often by LIB'S, as you say seeking to make friends, laughable anyway, "hate" is used to often by LIB'S, as they act on it as well, that's why they use it so casually and incorrectly. Pretending your more qualified than me or ANY conservative, independent, no matter how unqualified you are, is the NORM for a lib, they always can come up with some excuse, cheap gang type duties, I guess on their part?
DEAL, good.
Your about as exciting as a Pelosi-face trying to make a "real eXpression"-
I am trying to find out here if there are any Republican failures of the past that you might be willing to admit, you know, the mistakes that took them out of power. Note here that I am not saying Dems are perfect- I am just hoping you might admit the same about Republicans.
And this will shock you, I want out of the mid-east somehow, ALMOST anyhow.
They are really showing their true colors these days. It's not the Democrat's fault that they voted for George Bush not once, but twice.
My suggestion it that they become part of the solution instead of being part of the problem. Barack Obama has a mandate. He doesn't need Republican support. They ought to be thankful that he is keeping his campaign pledge and is reaching out to them despite their sore looser mentality.
You said . . .
"Thanksgiving and Christmas? That's when the conservatives flock to the soup kitchens so they can tell their friends and pastors and rack up some brownie points. Please, think before you type."
You suggest that liberals are more generous than conservatives, that liberals care for their fellow man (person for the gender sensitive), than conservatives. Well I suggest you follow these links I've provided and next look before you leap.

would be a fool not to regard Rush Limbaugh with a measure
of trepidation. That's why he has bodyguards.
Look, Rush is right in the thick of what might rightly be
called the New Nazi Party, or the extreme right wing of the
Republican Party. Anyone that underestimates that
group is a fool.
But the question is, how able will the President to carry
on in spite of the fear inspiring tactics of Rush's Right?
I'm sure there is a bully on every block of Chicago's
South side, yet, Barack survived and prospered there.
Finally, Rush needs to understand exactly where he
stands once you get outside the ditto society. If that
ever sinks in, Rush won't consider himself such a
intimidating factor in American politics.
