Back at the start of January, two friends got married in Vegas. We were unable to attend. Anyway, I posted a week ago that I bought a customized framed artwork for them, with their last name, and the words "Live, Laugh, Love" on it from Cafepress. The artwork was all mine.
When it arrived, it was too dark to read. The green of the background was printed as a DARK forest green, and I used black for the text. It blended in and became illegible. I have been messing around with new artwork for it over the past week, trying other colors, lightening it, adding white shadows to the text, etc.
Today I finally got around to processing the return. It told me I would get an email telling me how to deal with the return.
Now, most of the products Cafepress uses are printed directly onto the item- t-shirts, mugs, etc. Returns would probably just be wasted product for them. With this one, it's a nice framed print, though, so really, all they would need to do to reuse it is remove the print, and put another one in it's place. The frame, matte, and glass are all reuseable.
Just now, I got an email back from Cafepress. They've processed the return, and credited my Cafepress account with $19.02, and the rest was refunded to my bank card. The Cafe "cash" is money I earned through sales I made on the site. They allow you to cash out at $25, or spend it on merchandise.
This is the email I got:
Dear Heather,
We want you to be 100% satisfied with your CafePress.com experience.
I have processed a refund for you in the amount of $19.02 in cafe cash and $10.97 back to your credit card. Please allow 3 - 5 business days for the refund to be reflected on your credit card statement.
I know the item received is not up to your complete satisfaction but as our way of an apology please go ahead and keep it. There is no need for a return!
If there is anything else I can do for you please let me know.
Your ticket code is XXXXXX (not the real code, obviously). Please use this code in any further communication.
Best Regards,
How awesome is that? I don't have to package the whole thing up, and try to ship it! I'm thinking what I'll do is still give them this one, but then make a 2nd one that says something different on it for them as well. That way, they'll have 2. Cause, really, what am I going to do with my very own artwork of their last name? ;) The frame is too long and skinny to be used with anything different like photographs.
