I am sorry about this...but why doesn't she get food stamps? She could probably get plenty to eat very well. With all my money problems, that is the one thing I never worry about because I get plenty to eat on. She paid taxes all her life and she should be able to get the help. It's just a thought.

Have not opened up the electric bill yet. My gas bill for the month was $300. That is just used for heat and hot water.

We have food stamps and Wic... only 145 and its already spent....

my electric bill is $272 for the past two months, which isn't bad, but i have to pay the full amount by the 29th of january, or it gets cut off, and of this moment I have $118.99!! LOL! I have three days to make $152!!! EEEK!

I'm fortunate. Hubby and I live in a little apt and our electricity bill is only about $70 every TWO months. Not bad. Wish you lived where we live.

Our last bill was over 2.5 times what it normally costs. We didn't use any more electricity either. The price just went up that much here.

My electric bill was 120 bucks just to keep it "heated" to 50 degrees.

My gas bill is on the budget plan and is $150 per month, that is heat only. I have electric everything else and that bill is $150 per month. I bought this house about 17 years ago, I would have to check my paperwork to be sure and then it was a real bargain. It is on one of those government loans that adjust to your income which has been great through the years with the ups and downs with jobs. Right now though, I am thinking I almost rather be in a tiny apartment just a place to sleep, eat and such. I, one person, do not really need all this room. I have enjoyed this house. It has been the only house in my entire life even from a child that I have liked living in. So it is hard for me to give it up. And it needs a lot of repairs. I couldn't put it up for sale in the condition it is in and expect nearly what it is worth. I would have to take out a home equity loan and do the repairs. So my monthly payment is really a good payment, but the utility bills are very high, higher than they would be in a small apartment. Another thing I am running into now is repairs of which I would not have in an apartment either and cutting grass that is always a pain, I am truly not in the best of condition to do this so I have to hire it done. Even though I like it here, I am probably looking at moving out of it at some point because of all the upkeep and high utility bills.

Our electricity is usually $300. No big surprise here. Why we cut out heating oil.
I no people who have bigger bills then us on a regular bases, expensive and here if you do not pay they will cut it off.

Need to tighten up the belt and hang on. Things are not coming down on price!

yikes that is a ridiculousy high bill....our electric bill has been about $40

we have a budget of only 118 a month,, yet my bills only run me about 75 to 100 a month,, do you all have a CHAD organization see if they could help her out or even call the light compnay and see if they can work with her

Are bill was really high this month and taht reminds me I really need to get in there and pay some before we get late fee's I havnt been very good with making my payments on time lately..lol

Oh my my light bill was only $158 this month and that includes water and sewer. And that is for a 3 bedroom house must be my insulation

My bills are paid with my rent to the management of my park. My bills so far have been low, but this weather is getting colder, and last year my entire bill in Feb was 500.00. I'm not looking forward to this one.

I was going to say the same thing Leah did. If you want to open up a checking account you can do so once you are 18. I took Missy to open up her own free checking and to transfer her saving account into her name entirely this past week for her birthday.

Our electric bill was close to $200 but our gas bill was $375. Last month is was over $400.

Our most recent electricity bill (that didn't include heat) was over $500!! That was just for one month. We are in shock. This has been a bad year for everyone, especially if you are where it's cold. Hang in there.

Had a visit from my sister the other day. She had just managed to pay her $600.00 utility bill. It's rediculous, just to try to stay a little comfortable in winter. She's putting herself in a woodburning stove, and is in the process of taking herself off the grid. $600.00 a month for warmth is too, too much, so the energy company just lost 2 more customers.

When I leave for wok, I go straight to the pole and pull that switch that shuts off all the electricity to the house. NO USAGE while I'm at work. No one is home anyway. I flip it back on when I get home.

When I get my woodburning stove, they'll get less usage still cause I won't be using their services for heating, anymore. Enough is enough!

Gotta live within our means, after all! Well,...O.K.!!!
