Just a heads up to my group members. I will be keeping the groups content more within the bounds of the groups themes than I have been in the past.
Gimme 10 and Ratings Rampage will still be post all groups -- with a small needed change-- the content in these 2 groups build up very quickly, almost 1,000 added pieces of content daily into each some days.
The changes to these 2 groups will be in the photos shared - while I enjoy looking at the photos it takes up a lot of time to rate and comment on every one when a single member uploads more than 10 photos at a time, so when that happens only 10 will get rated and the group comment. This will free up time to move on to other members photos and I will be able to move out the content quicker. (The 10 photo comment limit will also apply to my other group as well)
The themed groups that will be better moderated are:
Cuteness Overload: For everything cute! Cute stories, pics and videos. If it's not cute, it will be deleted!
LOL Stuff: This group is for funny stuff only - funny post, pics and videos- any content not funny will be deleted.
Odd News: For strange news stories, strange facts, oddities - anything not fitting this criteria will be deleted.
Pet Memorials: This group is to share memories of our beloved pet who have crossed over to the rainbow bridge. Anything else will be deleted.
Here Kitty Kitty: Anything and everything cat related. Anything else will be deleted.

Only when members take the steps you have will groups regain their meaning (and effectiveness) within the community.
Today, over 95% of all groups fail within a few weeks of their creation due to the quantity of off-topic content published to them, and the effort required by the group owner to clean up the mess.
Good luck in your efforts!!
I need to make some changes in my groups anyway - I've never yet done that and it's really getting out of hand.

I appreciate moderation - gets frustrating when I get a notification for a group I'm fond of and then the post has absolutely nothing to do with the group. I've never seen so much off-topic posting in my life as on Gather.
Fair enough. Checking your groups now.
