I finally figured out where to find out how many friends I have here at Gather (582!!).  My question is: What are friend sets?  How and why do you create them?  What is the use of them?

Sarah, I've used them to put in the people in my "pay it forward" group so its easier to locate them when it is their turn! I guess you could make any group you would want to and be able to reach someone quickly. You can have your friends in several different groups!

I've been thinking about alphabetizing my friend sets, as gather does not make it easy to look for a friend that doesn't start with the letter a.

hmmmm, okay...I think I kind of understand. So, when you want to post an article, can you choose certain friend groups to send them to??? I am still a little confused....sorry. :s

I would guess it is so you can organize your friends like you do some of your pictures in albums


It seems eventually you would be able to hit a friend set, say: 'close friends' and send an e-mail just to them

yep you can put whomever you want into friend sets, and can also name them accordingly. I think its labeled as create a new set. Just name the new set and then you can click on each person's name and it will appear in that set. Hope that helps Sarah

the use of them would be if you only want to send posts or pics to a select few. not sure if you can do that with emails or not haven't tried that part of it yet, but don't think so..
Gather has 3 set friends sets- Friends, Family, Collegues. You can add new ones (never done it, not sure how to), then you can sort people into specific friends sets.

When you post things, if you only have a few friends you want to see it, you can set them into a specific group, then post something to just that set of people.

Never heard of such a thing....guess I just never pay attention to how many "friends" I have on here........oh well.
I don't use the friend sets... to me everyone is equally my friend or not my friend :)
