There I said it! My personal opinon but there it is. What has gotten me on such a rant this morning? Well to be honest I was watching CNN and then got the scoop on the stupid, and I mean incredibly stupid, parents who went down an 80 foot drop for a child's teddy bear when it was thrown over a cliff during a tantrum. Case in point the child needs smacked and the parents need smacked for going over it. Not only did they have to be rescued but now they are getting media coverage for their ignorance! What a waste! It was I would have told junior you are SOL pal!
Then as we were watching this travesty of parenthood play across our screen Travis tells me this story about a guy he works with. Apparently his little angel decided to absconed with an MP3 player and some other items that didn't belong to him. When a school official took the pilfered items from the child the father, yes the father, went back to the school and told the principal he needed the stuff back because there would be he** to pay if he didn't come home with it from his kid. WTF! Hello! He stole it he doesn't get to keep it! Not to mention the little moster was only 6! What does a six year old need with an MP3 player anyway?
Then as we are still watching the teddy bear incident on tv across the little ticker tape at the bottom reads "Three year old caught on tape smoking with mother near by. Mother facing charges!" Good grief gertie! What goes through a person's mind that they not only allow it but heck lets light it up for ole Junior! All in the family I guess!
Like I said some people just need smacked and smacked hard!

I told my daughter when she was very young that I had a "nerve condition". That certain frequencies of sound would "trigger" it and what happened was that my arms would jerk out violently when I heard these certain sounds and that, unfortunately, the frequencies that triggered my spasms exactly matched those of whining children. I told her with a completely serious face that, while I would NEVER intentionally strike a child (perish the thought!), that could not control these violent spasms and anyone standing near me when they happened was likely to get "caught in the cross-fire"... I would feel very, very bad for hurting anyone but there was nothing that could be done to prevent it unless the child held back their whining.
Believe it or not, this worked -- not only with MY child but with every one of her little friends that ever came over to the house! My daughter would inform them of my "condition" and I never had a problem with ANY of them!
I finally told my daughter when she was about... ooohhhhhh..... 25 or so that it was a lie. By that time, of course, she was able to appreciate it.
Clever, n'est pas? ;o)
Crazy. Crazy for feeling so blue."
