It may be true and it may not. It depends on which scientist you are reading. At best if it is true you are looking at maybe 2 degrees in 100 years. At the worst it could be 5 degrees. Not a big deal as I see it. The climate change people are trying to blame everything that happens on climate change. Forrest fires in Montana caused by lightning strikes to a bad winter in Iowa.

All I can say is get real.

Not a big deal ???? WOW nice way to look at it. I guess when New York is under water we all can say that it is not a big deal. When countries are flooded and masses of people are displaced we all can say that it is not a big deal.

If your theory is correct and they are all fooling the public, what would the government get out of it ? Or the scientists for that matter? what would they gain from fooling the public ? With as much as the government is wrapped up in oil, you would think they would want people to stay oil dependent.

Follow the money see who's getting rich off of "global warming". NBC pushes "global warming" every chance they can. GE parent company of NBC makes wind turbines that some think will save us all. So is NBC's "global warming" push genuine or a way to make GE even more money?

George if a person wants to really try and find the truth they will look at all the scientific data they can find which is very abundant on the internet. Its important to look at all material not just the part that we want to agree with.

You do not think that a few degrees rise in temperature will make a big difference? Look at the storms that have hit the Eastern United States the past few years and you can see what the rise in temperature is causing. Just a 2" rise in ocean water levels will devastate low lying seaside communities when the storms hit. Look at New Orleans and Katrina, and what about the severe storms that hit the Texas coast line last year. Are these just freak storms where such violence has never been recorded before? What about the tidal surges that accompany these storms, New Orleans is still under water in some areas. Your link takes me to a health newsletter and I do not see anything posted about global warming.

Its your choice if you want to continue to be ignorant to what is happening worldwide.

I suppose the melting glaciers and disappearing sea ice is just a myth also? Well they say ignorance is bliss.

I worked at a DIY company similar to Home Depot and Lowes, one day they got in a shipment of diapers. Hmm why would a lumber and home improvement company sell diapers? Because it made them money. Right now with the "green hysteria" riding high there's money to be made. I seem to remember a whole lot of people buying a ROCK. Why did they do that? Because it was the latest fad and god forbid that you aren't up with the latest fad.

Charles I don't care what NBC pushes my need is scientific fact which their is an abundance of. G.E. may make wind turbines and so what? Someone has to make them, I personally do not like the General Electric corporation but its not because they are making wind turbines.

A company is in business to make money. Some company is going to invest in research and development to make us energy dependent because the public wants it and they are going to do it for a profit. Their will also be many jobs created with the new technology that supports energy independence.

What about the Galveston hurricane of 1900? Far worse than Katrina.

No scientific organization in the world disputes the IPCC Reports. If you're comparing the website you referenced above (www.douglassreport.com) with the National Academies of Science, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the National Research Council, the American Meteorological Society, the American Geophysical Union, etc., etc., etc., then it becomes clear just how ideologically motivated you are. You can't be serious!!!

You at least make the point I have made for a long time - that a sustainable economy is not uneconomical. People will make money - lots of it. So what? Why should making money be the exclusive province of polluters and exploiters?

Do you know anything about science? Statistics and probability? Risk assessments? People, like Rupert Murdoch, Lee Scott, and John Browne know about these things. They understand the science. You would have a very difficult time making the case that they are "green hysterics".

Get serious. Do some actual reading on the subject, rather than repeating sound-bytes, made-up by the kinds of websites that Col. George references above.

And quit siting that no scientific organization disputes the IPCC. Organizations are made up of individuals and there are many scientific individuals even within these organizations that question the validity of "global warming". But the "global warming" response to these people is ridicule and slander by the "global warming" community. They are described as crack pots in an attempt to silence them and cast dispersions on their findings. Even when there is fault found with the data presented by "global warming" scientist it is ignored by most or called irrelevant in the attempt to once again discredit the authors of the information.

Charles - All of the "data" that the contrarians have put forth has been evaluated, investigated, and incorporated into the findings of the IPCC and other experts on long-term climatic conditions. The problem is that the people who offer up this information seem to think that their one data point trumps a million data points. That's not how it works. Any data that appears to contradict the findings is tested and retested to see if it is true. If it is, then all the other factors are evaluated to see how those new pieces of data impact the models, the calculations, and the interpretations. All of it is incorporated and discussed. And the preponderance of the data clearly indicate the presence of global warming and the man-made contribution to that. I'm sorry that the sum total of the data upset your denial of science, but science is science. And science will continue to fine-tune the analysis with all the new data that are being collected, including the data put forth by the people who think their data invalidates all the other data.

Nothing is ignored by scientists. The contrarians, on the other hand, consistently ignore everything except the one piece of data they can twist, either intentionally or through ignorance, into something it is not. It's ironic that those who scream the loudest about scientists ignoring stuff are the very ones who are in fact ignoring the preponderance of the evidence.

I am not sure whom you are speaking of that thinks that wind turbines will save us all, Personally I have never heard anyone say that. What I have heard is that wind turbines will help ease us away from coal and fossil fueled power plants. (I would love to have one on my land, hell anything I could do to lower my power bill would be welcome.)

If a person thinks of the world like a big pond in their back yard it is very clear. One day you head down to that pond, you urinate into that pond, most likely it will have little to no effect, and the pond will clean itself. Now imagine every day you go down to that pond and urinate into it, some days you are drinking a soda and toss the can into it, some days you bring your house garbage and throw it into it. Well the pond can not repair it self fast enough to deal with the increase in damage that is being done to it.
That is the earth, more people are now inhabiting it then ever before, more demands on the natural resources then ever before, more pollutant then ever before and to top that off the trees that turn carbon dioxide into oxygen are being cut down and some cut and burned to make way for new housing for more people.
Somewhere, sometime, something has to give and people need to realize that we need to address it before it is to late.

But hey "it is not a big deal"

Right Dj. Wind power is but one alternative energy sources. Where I live wind power is the way to go but solar power, another good source of alternative energy would be a waste of money because of the amount of cloud cover we have but in areas of the country that have an abundance of sunshine it will be a great resource. I don't believe any one source of alternative energy would do the trick anywhere in the world.

The evidence has been studied and it points into one single direction, i.e. that global warming is real and is caused by human activity. Now is the time to stop listening to the denial squad. We should now focus on putting together the best policy framework to reduce greenhouse gases.

I realize that's an inconvenient fact for you, but don't count on it.

Evidence? Reference? Link? It is very doubtful that every organization in the world would endorse the IPCC Reports if so many scientists rejected those findings. And that would be every scientific organization, with no dissenting ones. So why should anyone pay attention to the few, who typically have financial interests in fossil fuels?

OK, Sam. I know you're right about this. It's just that it's kind of fun to help contrarians show how little they know about the subject. I'll try my best to let it go.

I'm sure that's true. However, it might surprise you to know that one of the leaders in manufacturing and installing pvs is (sunny) Germany. Even places like Ontario are well invested in solar energy. Note - that is not to take anything away from wind.

But the real question is....can we do anything to change 'climate change'?

Personally I don't think we can but I support alternative energies because they will make our society a better place to live and grow.

I've put together a petition asking congress to enact regulation which will allow more of us to hook up to the grid.

I do not believe we can reverse global warming Dan but I do believe we can slow it so the effect as they occur will not be as devestating. We can only make things better for all in cleaning up the environment.

Jack , seen above ...that the comments stopped in Jan but was lucky to get your link when I put in a post today...It really was very interesting the way Albert put it across.I enjoye it !!....Weve have just had floods here in South India that have never happened in 100's of years.Ice caps melt there and floods reach here.....
