Has Ebay Devalued Your Collectibles?

I am beginning to dislke Ebay.  I have some valuble dolls that more importantly, have personal value to me.  I was looking on Ebay, and antique dolls and treasures are being sold for next to nothing.  Ebay is making money, but sellers are undercutting themselves.  I'd rather keep my treasures thanks.  Just a mild morning rant!   I dislike Ebay second only to Walmart!

I signed onto e-bay, but after looking at the prices, there MUST be something better, Carol... I have 2 full sets of "Charles haviland" flatware from the 1890s.....no WAY am I going to give them away ..

I think that you're right! I've got items that aren't worth that much anymore because of Ebay! It seems like everything is being sold cheap on there any more!

An antique is worth what a person is willing to pay. On E-Bay you can set a minimum price and if that reserve is not met the item does not sell. If I were to sell on e-bay I would set a reserve price every time.

Items being sold cheap is a reflection of the economy. People are desperite for the money to pay bills.

try selling your art that took you months to make on there. no way can you get the amount you put into the supplies back, let alone make a profit. i use it now as a clearance center for old art i'm wanting to get rid of at any cost so i can make room for making new ones.

e-Bay doesn't set the prices, the sellers set the prices, and the buyers either agree (and buy) or disagree ( and don't buy). Econ 100. I have sold stuff on e-Bay (at auction) and been surprised at how much someone is willing to pay. And had other items completely ignored, even with ridiculously low pricing. I suspect it's more a matter of people not wanting to part with any more of their hard-earned money than they have to. Welcome to the world's biggest swap-meet!

I'm an artist and eBay has really devalued the price of art big time over there, but it's mostly due to so many people posting art there. I haven't sold there in a long time.

I only go to ebay to find deals anymore. As I have been told is something is alomst brand new to find out otherwise after receiving it. If i want brand new..I buy froma store where I can see it in person first.

I have certainly seen it, I have cartons of Precious moments items that are in my basement since this house can only hold my most favorite ones and I just don't know if I want to just sell them for almost nothing or take up space I could be using for something else!

Ebay is downright pissing me off actually. I used to sell a lot of the prim dolls and crafts I made; however, I wasn't making any money and I was not about to sell my stuff for dirt cheap because I invest a lot of time in making those items.

The Goodwill in Lapeer have a bunch of ole dolls for sell. Not the kind of doll a little girl would play with. I would call them the collectable kinds. Didn't notice how much they were though.

I was selling my used audio tapes on Ebay but was barely making enough to cover the supplies to mail them off. Envelopes and packaging costs plus listing fees were killing me. I did not even care if I made a profit really just wanted to break even.
