Help! I need camcorder and/or video camera recommendations..

Hi all,

I am in the market for a video camera and/or camera with decent video functions. Is this a camcorder? This will be my first video camcorder ever.

I would need to record video for either work assignments or family occasions.

I am a single mom of 4 with a VERY low budget, so...

I would like/need a video camera that:

1. Takes quality video recordings

2. Is easy to upload videos from my computer to the internet

3. Is easy to hold steady while I am recording as I have hands that shake

4. The best place to buy this "perfect" camcorder/video camera from

So, seeking opinions from my friends on Gather.

How about a camera that takes video clips. Many do, and they cost a lot less than a camcorder.

Most of them on cameras only do 2 minute clips, I think.

Whatever you do, don't buy it from Best Buy, you might be able to get a deal these days from Circuit City. Try reputable online dealers like Adorama, B&H Photo, JR Electronics. Don't be fooled by "rock bottom" prices you might find at the end of a video/photog magazine. Typically those are "international" guarantee, or you get the manuals in a different language and support internationally, instead of from an engslish speaking support person.

I'm a camera person, not video, I can't make recommendations, but those vendors I listed have great places to review and explore.

If you are on a tight budget I would recommend a PureDigital video recorder. It doesn't get much easier than this and it uploads to your computer, prepares your videos for sharing on the web and e-mailing. You can look at my videos and see the quality for yourself.
Check it out at their website http://www.theflip.com/. You can also either make your own DVD or CD or take it to a participating store like CVS or RiteAid and have one made. I have one that takes up to 1/2 hour of video and one that takes up to an hour. It doesn't sound like a lot but 1/2 hour is a lot of video. I think my cruise videos are less than an hour, maybe even less than 1/2 hour but I forget. You can purchase these at Target and a few other places as well as online like Amazon.

Good question. I don't have one, or a need for it. But there seems to be LOTS of choices out there in the store aisles. WalMart, Sears too. Small, easy, and digital disks? Don't listen to me, go shop! Good luck with the budget, maybe a clearance item.

I use a Sony handy cam with steady shot (it takes the shake out of it) It has a memory stick, will take stills as well as video. You can load both to the computer. Or take them to a place that will print them. It is a digital camera. I use it to take my videos posted on youtube here: www.youtube.com/skybobb flying videos.

I just use a camera that has video.I have 2 kodaks and a hp and I think they do great.
