Has Your Pet Ever Been Stung By A Bee?

A few days ago Trixie got stung by a bee. There were a few bee's outside and when she came into the house after being outside with the boys, she had a big ball looking spot right by the back of her jaw. I immediatey knew what happened. She'd probably been trying to catch the bees and one stung her. It was terrible seeing her like that but she didn't act like she was in pain at all.

My best friend pulled what she thought was the stinger out but the next day I looked at it and it had gone down a lot but had what looked like pus and something I thought was a stinger. My best friend felt silly because she realized she must have pulled out a whisker the day before and so she pulled out the stinger the next day while I held Trixie.

After that, it went away pretty quickly. Trixie never acted like she was in pain, she hated it though when I had to hold her against me so the stinger could be pulled out.

 

I haven't had a pet that had gotten stung before so it was a new experience for me.

I had a dog that did. It was swollen for awhile and then went away!

Beau, my cat in the icon, was stung on his cheek by a wasp. His face all swelled up within an hour. I had to take him to the vet to get a shot of Benadryl or something like that. The vet said normally it wouldn't have gotten that bad, but Beau is apparently allergic to insect stings.

From time to time one of our dogs has been stung. We've only had to take one to the vet for a bee sting, and that might have been a spider bite. When it happens we always give the dog bitten a benadryl tablet. Most of the time they are fine.

I had a dog that got stung on the mouth he had a very fat lip.

I saw one of our cats get stung by a bee back when I lived on the farm RIGHT ON THE NOSE. I think everything got it from the wasps every now and again.

Yes, a swarm of wasps stung one kitten on the top of her head and on kitten on his eye =(

My son's dog got into a yellow jackets nest and was stung over 100 times. The vet spent an hour pulling stingers out. We gave him benedryl for a couple of days. He was sore, but he recovered.

My dog got stung by yellow jackets in a ground nest when she was a puppy. We didn't know how many times she was stung, because she was absolutely wild with fright after it happened; she drooled and panted, was wide-eyed, and insisted on being held. We did find the injection marks after a few days- at least 6- but the vet told us dogs can be as allergic as humans, and it can kill them. So if your pet gets stung, always call your vet, and don't give them any human medications without checking with the vet first regarding the medication itself and dosage.
The dog we had when I was a kid once caught a wasp in his mouth. He only got stung once but he didn't like it much. It took a few days for the swelling to go down.

Rocky always gets stung by bees in the summer. Usually he steps on them. Poor thing. Then he limps around all day. We baby him and hold an ice cube on his paw for awhile. Then I give him a baby aspirin and he lays around until he feels better.

No, but I did have A dog that got into the fireants, her poor face swelled all up - she looked miserable, but she was better in a few hours.

Maggie got stung, but we're not sure where, when Mike stepped in the yellow jacket hive this past summer.....Angela heard the yelps...but Mike was stung multiple times and Angela was stung as well...

It happens, though. At least it was just a bee sting and not a bite from a venomous snake or poisonous spider.

Our dog hasn't gotten stung by a bee. I can only imagine how your dog must have felt. I hope she's feeling better though.
