I made a big Gather mistake today..

I headed out to the post office without my camera. Well I was only going to be gone about 20 minutes and I was just heading into town. Nothing interesting there so why should I grab one of my two cameras? Why, I will tell you why. Because there is always an opportunity and you can miss a great shot.

It was such a lovely day out and it was finally in the 40's which is warm for us lately. When I came out of the post office I decided to take a ride and check out some stores. Before I knew it, it was 4pm and I was heading home. But, I was feeling light headed. I realized that I hadn't had lunch yet and I was starving. So I passed a Wendy's on the way and decided to stop in for a 99 cent double stack and some fries. I went through the drive up and then to a parking place there to eat. I pulled up next to an older woman sitting in a car reading a paper.

As I was eating, I noticed that there were some gulls hanging around. There was a pail near the cars and some were on top of the pail. I thought, they must be hungry. So I threw a few fries out of my car window. Before you could blink your eyes, they were all over the place. Some were sitting on my car and looking in the window at me. I looked over to see if the women was laughing at me and she never looked up from her paper. Well she should have, cause there was three of the gulls sitting on her car looking at her.

Well I had a good laugh then got mad at myself for not having my camera with me. I threw the rest of my fries out of the window so they would get off my car and I quickly drove off into the sunset. Which by the way, would have been a good picture also.

So now I need to remember... Don't leave the house without your camera, cause you never know when a circumstance will make for a good picture.

I do the same thing all the time. When I have my camera there's not much to take pictures of, but when I don't the captures are plentiful

I agree, Carol, don't do that again. Those photos would have been so much fun. Especially the ones with the birds looking at the woman reading her paper. And, they would have made great post cards. You know me, I'll find a way to make money from them.

They would have been great pictures. I have done that before too where there is a perfect picture opportunity and me with no camera. Well it still made for a nice story.

I always find I have the wrong camera for a certain shot :( I had the little one yesterday as a big flock of geese were flying over :( i was kicking myself for not having the other one. I got some shots but they are not as good as they could have been :(

After the millionth time of hearing me complain that I missed a shot I could have posted hubby just put my camera in my pocketbook so I would always have it with me :)

This is so true. We got in trouble when we rented a condo on South Padre for feeding the gulls from the balcony. We didn't know it caused them to roost on people's lawn furniture!

Oh, that is so like me. I usually carry mine in my purse, especially when I drive 60 miles to my mom's. The other day I forgot to get it off my desk, and wouldn't you know I saw 10 deer, 50 turkeys, and a pot belly pig crossed the road in front of me. I was so mad I didn't have my camera. I got a shot of the pig on my cellphone, but by that time he was too far away. Thanks for sharing!

I was keeping my old one in the car. But, it has been so cold here that the batteries kept dying and every time I went to use it they were dead. So I brought the camera back into the house. I should just keep it in my bag. Well, I have learned my lesson.

Ah, I have had it happen a few times as well. But I have a buly camera. (Thats what hubby wanted) So, I don't bring it alot for that reason.
