In Memory of my beloved Mother - Ana Teresa 



September 11, 1919 - January 23, 2006

Her heart remains open and through me, she continues to live.

I am grateful for every single minute that I spent with my mama.  What a beautiful blessing to enjoy my mother for 56 years!  Thank yall for reading this.  Salud

My Mom passed on Feb. 1st a few years ago, not too fond of that date; or Aug 18th, my younger brother... I loved them both.

Thank you - each of you for your kind remarks - I will cherish this post and the comments for a long time. Every reminder of mama's beauty is a treasure to me. If you have a mother, hold her close - someday, they won't be here any more - put your parents ahead of friends and activities - there will always be more friends and other places to go but once those special folks go - there is a whole different world out there and we become other people. Dear Friend Mariana - Our mothers are such a precious gift to us. It will be two years since my own Mom passed on 1/31. It's bitter-sweet, isn't it? But I choose to hold on to the sweet memories which keep her ever close. My husband planted a lovely pink rose at my front door shortly after she died to honor her....and it offered up a lovely blossom today - even the rain couldn't beat it down.

I know this day of remembering was a special one to you....you had a beautiful Mama - both in spirit and heart. Thanks for sharing this glimpse of the two of you.

Sis, I hold my Mom always, kiss her, hug her like it will be the last time that we ever see each other. You see I know how every moment is precious. I didn't always when I was young but since I have been in my 30's my Mom is the most important person in my life. I adore her and cherish her and want to be with her all of the time. My Mom is my best friend and I wouldn't trade her for anything in the entire world.

You were lucky to have had your Mom for 56 years. I hope that I do too.

I know what you mean about cherishing your parents. I lost my father before i turned 21, when he was just 44, and I lost my mother when she turned 60, 6 years ago. My father was one of my best friends, and my mother and I grew past many things and were able to learn from each other. I miss her too.

I don't think we ever get old enough not to need our Mamas. I sure missed mine on Inauguration Day. She would have loved it. Also, the Australian Open is beginning and she was a huge tennis fan. I know your Mama was an incredible woman. We'll all have afternoons with tea and cookies and all of us visit with each other some day.

Vicky, that would be great - yall need to visit La. in honor of your mother someday soon. My girlfriend Shelley and I had a birthday party for mama on the front porch, with a cake and we sang happy birthday to her (Sept. 11). It's a little cooler then...

Lisa, oh I'm so sorry that you lost your parents so early - I'm almost 60, in May so I think that is still young. I know how much you must miss her.

Oh Dorine - somehow that makes me feel so wonderful and blessed, thank you my friend.

Two beautiful ladies.... such happiness shining in both your eyes.

It never goes away, I think... I've had that horrible flu that has been going around, and almost wept to know that 'Mom' wasn't going to climb the stairs and see if I was allright.

It is when we are sick I think that it really comes home how alone we are now.

Courtney - thank you so very much - that was taken many years ago - I have recent ones I'll post someday. Mama passed on when she was 86 and I was 56 so I was blessed to have a mother for so many years. Salud

Doc, your mother is always with you - don't worry, just close your eyes and remember happy times - that's what memories are - they are hugs from those in the Great Beyond just for us when we need them. Yes, Esther, mama was 86 and I wish she could have made it to a 100 but it was her time to go - and when she lived on this earth, she really lived and she was in a good spiritual space always. Sometimes, we get to know our mothers more after they are gone than in the day by day events we share with them. Salud

Your love and honor for your Mom is wonderful Mariana. I don't know how old she is there, but she is still beautiful.
My Mom is 92. I ended up having to put her in a nursing home which I said I would never do. But I see her every day. She actually enjoys having so many people around. I think she enjoys life more. What a relief.

Beautiful picture of your Mom and you Mariana, you were fortunate to have your mother so long, as my children are to have me, I know that, as I lost my mother when I was 23 andf she was 43, We had only a short time together, but I will never forget her, or the lessons she taught me about life, and I am sure you treasure those from your mother too.

Sorry about the loss of your Momma, I don't know that the emptiness every gets any easier, but I still have my Momma, I will share with you. Just get your butt down here and leave the hurricanes somewhere else.
I do blame me being so sick on this whole issue. I am seeing a comp atty come Thursday morning to see exactly what my rights are.

Phyllis - oh bless your heart - thank you. She was a beautiful person, inside and out - I wish I were more like her - I lack her patience for sure.

A day does not go by that I do not think of my Mama. She had a heart as big as the moon, and was generous beyond any reasoning, other than she taught us how to love and be loved. She died so suddenly five years ago. It was one of the most horrible days of my life. I took her to the er because she was showing signs of a stroke...they admitted her so I returned home to get her some personal items, when I returned (not one hour or so) she had died. I was devistated to say the least. I have all her hummels that she loved dearly and many of her little momentoes she adored. She was raised up in the depression and saved everything. She loves flowers, and strawberries, and to the day she died, she loved to dress up and go out to the movies in her sunday best. I think she may have died of a broken heart due to the loss of my dad...she missed him so at times. But I am thankful she passed on like she did...no pain and no nursing home. She had many talents also. She could make the best soup of anyone I ever knew and she knew how to stretch a chicken dinner to make it seem like Thanksgiving, (the depression) Children loved her. I miss her so much at times. She was my best friend. She taught me how to draw when I was a little girl, and she read to me all the time..............so important these days for parents or loved ones to read to children. Long live the memories of our Mamas!!!!!!
