Has Anyone Tried The New Mediterranean Shrimp Pizza From "Pizza Pizza?"

Here in Canada we have a really good pizza place called Pizza Pizza. I love them because they are open as late as 3 AM for delivery.

Tonight my husband wanted a can of Coke or some other soft drink. I'd forgotten to pick some up at the store when I went to the coffee shop. It occured to me that we hadn't had dinner. Not knowing what we had in the fridge, I decided to order a pizza. We'd get dinner, AND we could choose to have six cans of coke included in our order. Why not?

We ordered the new Mediterranean garlic shrimp pizza, also topped with tomato, and a parmesian sauce.

We weren't all that impressed with it. They overcharged on the shrimp, and the rest of the toppings were cheap ones. The pizza was way too expensive, and didn't have much flavour, compared to the other ones they offer. It would have been good with a marinara sauce, and some black olives and feta.

We are still going to use Pizza Pizza as our regular pizza place, we'll just order pizzas with more flavour. Oh well, it was definitely worth a try, and the shrimp were very well done. It would be nice if they would include shrimp as a regular topping option.

So, anyone else tried this pizza? What's your opinion?

Stone! Deep fried cardboard sounds good when you're on a diet! LOL That's why I don't diet.

I don't like Shrimp so I would never try it. Hopefully your next pizza will be better.

Thank you Tammie. It's actually a really GOOD pizza place. Now that I think of it, what i was realy in the mood for when I thought SHRIMP was the feta and shrimp dish in marinara sauce that they sell at The Greek Garden. THAT would have been good. I'm still fullm, and we still got our coke, so we're both happy.

Jessica. My husband puts shrimp on homemade pizza, all the time. Smoked oysters too. Next time I want a pizza, I'll just get him to make it.

Thank you Ang. I know it will be. Next time we'll get pizza with nice tangy tomato sauce, feta cheese, hot sausage, mushrooms, and spicy dipping sauce. Also, I did eat a basket of hot HOT wings last night, so maybe my tastebuds are a little burnt out today. haha

I don't know how they are up in Canada...eh! But, here in Florida, I wouldn't call what Pizza Hut makes...Pizza. ;-)

I've had seafood pizza many times in the past. The best I ever tasted was delivered to us on the floor of the NAB Convention in Vegas. I don't have a clue where it came from, but it was GREAT!

Well said, Dan. I love pizza at 3 AM. Middle-of-the-night-snack? I call them! I just wish that Swiss Chalet was open at 3 AM. Their wings are the B E S T!

You definitely need to move to Canada.

Wow, Spartan. That sounds good. I'd love to try one of those. I think it was actually the sauce that made it so bland. I'm not used to pizza with bland sauce.

Pizza hut is OK in Canada, but Pizza Pizza (in general) is FAR SUPERIOR to Pizza Hut in my opinion.

Nope I haven't tried this specific pizza, but I have had shrimp and scallops many times on pizza and its very very good, esp. if you do it with a light tomato sauce.

I could definitely handle this -- although shrimp does widely vary in taste. I'm waiting for Pizza Hut to come out with their multi-grain The Natural. Guess it's available in some areas already, but I haven't seen it officially advertised. Papa John's whole wheat pizza is very good, but it's a bit on the thin side. Plus Uno's Chicago Grill is supposed to have a gluten-free pizza available nationally pretty soon. Looks like America still has a lot of great options in this area, despite your experience. That's the beauty of free enterprise! Thanks for posting this.

Have never tried shrimp on a pizza. It's not out of the question, though. It kind of reminds me of the tuna fish pizza my beloved Swedish cousins presented me with when I first visited them in 1976. It sounded weird, but was actually pretty good!
