promise
you will come back
when winter melts away,
cried my heart as fall turned frosty
...the promise given, the sun froze, snow fell...
many days later sunshine thaws
the earth, birds sing, buds wait
to fulfill the
promise

 


...a brilliant winter's day - promises warmth to come...

...freshly plowed earth - promises green fields...

...plowed earth - promises harvest...

...bud on an apple tree - the promise of flowers to come...

...muddy roads reflecting blue sky - promise spring...

...bud on an apple tree - promises luscious fruit...

...ice in the shade reminds me - of the season of promises...

...bare branches filled with buds - leaves are promised...

...Daphne redeeming the promise...

Lovely verse, Cristina. And as always, the beautiful tender images you do so well. The budding promise is pulsating in the shrubs and trees along our river, too. Three more weeks and the geese will come back to our river banks and then, no matter what the weather, we know everything in nature will be readying to burst forth at the first warm breath of spring.

I reread your verse as literature/poem. The imagery flows inside a changing feeling. You are rather slow in tempo the meshes well with seasonal description. Then you gradually increase the tempo until there is almost a feeling of 'I can't wait' for Spring. This is very good verse. Hopefully, you'll write more.
