Did you know Walgreen's refills printer cartridges?

I was in my local Walgreen's yesterday dropping off film. While I was waiting for the gals to get my 32 rolls of film labeled, I was looking around a bit. I was quite surprised to see that they have a machine to refill your ink jet cartridges. It costs $10 for a black cartridge and $15 for a colored one. However, there is also a $5 rebate through the end of January.


It's definitely cheaper than buying new. I know that we've fill some cartridges ourselves, but for whatever reason, I can't figure out how to refill the ones for the printer that we got about a year ago. I think I'll have to give it a try at least once!

I've paid for the refills before and found that they were only about 2 dollars cheaper and with it adding another stop to my errands and the fact that my computer kept saying it needed ink when it didn't it just wasn't worth it.
I've heard from a few people I know that Walgreens doesn't do a real good job. Several had ruined cartridges after getting them refilled there. All Walgreens did was refund the price of the refill.

I knew they did it but have never had it done. I've heard some negative things about it.

Yup, but never tried them yet. Office Max does black too, $10. Would never attempt my own, it would leak and ruin the printer! Can they be refilled more than once?

Thanks all for your feedback! It sounds like it's probably not worth it. I guess I'll pass! :)

And yes, they can be refilled more than once, RB, but they eventually wear out.

yep, a couple of times they have offered to refill cartridges for free so we took advantage of that and hubby took one cartridge in and I took in the other.

Not all Walgreen do the refills! The one here in Conway, N.H. doesnt do it, I found out after I cut the coupon out of THEIR CIRCULAR, and went in to get mine refilled....Hmmm, makes me want ot go back there again!

I haven't used the Walgreens refill service, but I knew that they did it. I usually just do my own. That's a bummer that not all of them do refills.

I usually do ours, too, Kelly. But for some reason, I'm not sure where to refill this one. It's a different printer and takes different cartridges than our old ones.

You can go on line to Walgreens and get a list of the cartridges that can be re-filled. The FREE refill costs 5.00 and the 5.00 rebate can not be applied for on line but has to be mailed in.
