Seeking help from my Gather friends.

College loans bite (when you have to pay them back that is). Try some of the mystery shopping sites. I get several calls a week from them for assignments. Free movies and sutff. Be sure to research them first. Lotsa luck!

It takes some time and patience and the key is to comment on other peoples work. The more you comment the more comments you get. Also the friends list is the key. The more friends you have the more people know when you have put up a post. I'm not sure what the groups are about, (points wise) I usually post to about 10 when I put a post up but I don't think it matters at all, I have also figured out that the ratings are nothing more than a tool to keep you on the page longer and to demonstrate another click to the people who put up the adds. The ratings rae also used by the bullies and trolls if they decide that your not cool or liberal enough. I have cashed out twice so far once for a target gift card and once for 25.00 on my pay pal. For me it's about posting regularly and comment comment comment.. I think the video blogging will be taking off soon, because they are a little more interesting than a regular post, and it allows people to get to know you a little more.

I found I did better on here when I was more active submitting content and looking at the content of others. By commenting on the work of others you will build up friends and make more.

you will get points also for viewing pages. even if you don`t let a comment. but it is nice to let a comment so the person knows you were there.

Sporadically Gather will run special points promotions, often tied to a new feature. It gave 10 points for each picture members posted after reformatting its picture-upload option, and those 10 points can add up quickly for members with hundreds of photos to upload.

If you're looking to quickly grow your point total, you'll want to look for these special promotions when they do come around, as well as participate in the Gather events that promise a chunk of points to one or more participants (such as recent book author chats where one randomly-selected commenter receives 250 or 500 or... extra points).

You can find out about these events by subscribing to the groups Gather Giveaways and Today on Gather, and by selecting the "email me with notifications of new posts" option for those groups (you'll do this within your member settings).

Just a few tips that may help.

If you have writing skills, you can make money on line by submitting some articles, etc for Associated Content, etc.

I am kind of in the same boat you are, I am still getting the hang of it. I am at around 300 points. I know of some other sites that you can make money on. sendearning.com is one. It takes awhile to build things up but eventually you can get it. some others like that are bondrewards.com and inboxdollars.com

I dont rack up points on gather either alecia, I just like it here.. I do pretty good with swagbucks, lightspeed panel, spotwinner and mypoints.

I have o other sites to make money, I also get points on Gather but not as much as some. I wish you luck in your search, hope you find the solution.

I am not in your situation and I'm jus there to write, but i hope whatever little I can contribute in the way of points by commenting will help.

It's not easy to make good money online unless you get involved in some sort of MLM business that really works. But to make those work IS a job and take time. I've heard alot of good things about mturk.com but I haven't really gotten active with it. If you are interested, pm me and I can send you a list of survey sites and other sites that make small $$, but again, they all take time.

Comment a LOT, join LOTS of groups, & add LOTS of friends. It helps, too, if you write & post interesting articles & pics.

Post, comment, view articles, photos, and video's. There is no great way unless you win points for something. Other than that do as much as you can and the points will add up.

comment view connect, post when and as much as you can handle....
sometimes that gets a little frustrating and time consuming though......

I have some of the same suggestions here..
Join other writing sites, or do home surveys.
Another great place to be on is Mypoints.com.
It takes a longer time to rack up points there but, their gift cards are excellent. And, shipping is super fast, usually five to seven days and you have your card.
Not only that you can also do surveys there as well.
I also do Inboxdollars, it's like Mypoints where you read paid emails. You just click on a link and there you go! Inbox is a site where you have to get 30 dollars before you cash out though, so that's a bummer.
There's helium.com but that site you have to be on it every day. It's mandatory that you read and rate dozens per articles just to get paid.

Do not get loans, you can get grants, and also more if you get good grades, Write extra papers, Check it out online.

I know when I had more time to comment, life in the way right now, I made many more points, I still try and post something every day, but I know the comments and views are what make the points for you, that get you the cash, I should just stop writing long comments and do several in the time it takes to do one. But, then that is the way I am, thank's for the friends request, and hope you make some good points, as someone above said, comment, comment comment.

i used to get 200 points a day, but somehow i only get around 50 a day now, i am not sure why... maybe because i do not have things to share anymore. i also do surveys, which i make about 100$ a month, sometimes less

You got some great advice Alicia!! I sometimes do MyPoints but I gather all the time.....gather is the best! (Good luck with everything.....my niece will be 20 in February and just this past Sunday she was talking about her student loan, so I know what you are going through!!!)

I know of a site that is super easy and pays about .01 per post and sometimes .02. If you want to ping me I will send you the information. Mypoints is very good, it is not fast but it it is steady. The best thing to do on here is to make lots of friends and leave lots of comments, and join lots of groups.

Consider CashCrate which has surveys and other offers that will pay you. You can earn a $20 or more check each month or payment to Paypal.

ughh, I hear ya on student loans, I have tons to pay off, and hubby is in grad school right now, and even though he works for the school and they pay for his school he only works part time so we are still taking out loans to help pay our bills and stuff, so he is just racking up even more as we speak...

I don't earn a lot but I do a few sites where you get points to trade in for gift cards like here.

One is called Mypoints~ you read emails, take surveys, and can also get points for buying stuff online. Then you redeem your points for gift cards to places.

Then I do Inboxdollars~ you have to have 30 to get a payout, you read emails, take surveys, and stuff like that. I am about to cash out, for the 2nd time, with them, but it does take awhile to cashout. Doesn't take a lot of work though.

Hits4pay you just view adds I think you ahve to get $20 to get a payout.

Mysurvey is a good survey site. They send you surveys based on your info you give them, then you get points per survey, 1000pts is $10. You can get checks in $10 amounts. I only made $30 with them last year, but my mother made about $100, it just depends on what you qualify for. When you take a short survey they usually have a bigger one worth a lot more points that you can take if you do qualify.

They may not be a lot each but when they are all added up together it can make a big difference.

Stay focused with your college schedule and studies, it will take you a lot further in life than Gather or any web site ever will and hopefully by the time you graduate the job market and economy will have turned around and you can pay off those college loans. Your education is the real key to success.

just keep at it, write things you love to talk about, post pictures of things you like to see, and most of all be yourself. you will write better if you arent faking it. most people will be able to tell. also comment comment comment. it wont earn you points directly. but comments tend to lead others to your stuff. and page views do earn points. good luck.

It can't hurt to invite more people to become part of your network, as well!

I feel for you, as a student myself I feel your pain.

Have you thought about substitute teaching? The pay's not that great and after you read one or two of my postings on Gather, it may change your mind or give you courage. Of course, you'll have to undergo a background check but that's one idea on the table.

I went to college when I was 30. MY two children were in elementary school. I had a dog, a relationship, and a parttime job. I graduated with honors. If that isn't a "rediculous" schedule, I don't know what is.

When someone comments on my posts, click on their signature, which is in blue, and it takes me to their site. I go into their posts or pics and comment on them.
