Introducing "The Poet's Circle"

My friends and fellow poets, I am coming to you tonight to introduce Julia's new group: The Poet's Circle (to join, click on the link in the first comment).  To help me make the invitation complete I have enlisted some of my favorite poets of all time.  The first person to correctly identify all eight from their pictures will receive a neat little surprise (see rules below).  Whether you take a guess at these poet's or not, please be sure to visit Julia's group.  Oh, please feel free to comment on my poem even if you don't want to leave a guess to the poets' identities.

Rules:

Use the comment thread to leave your eight guesses (all eight names in the same comment please).

My circle of friends, thanks for coming

It means so very much to me

Helps me continue to be free

 

Free to enjoy life and the splendid things it offers

Free from all my past pains

Free from my trials and my tribulations

Free from my blood-red stains

 

We're just a small circle of poets

Easy to talk to, easy to share

A circle of Friends as sweet as Roses

Whose hearts feel all so near

Well, Robert, I believe that the first three are Robert Frost, William Shakespeare, and Emily Dickinson. But you got me on the rest. I haven't studied the poets since I was in college, and they were beginning to give us the modern crap, that I didn't even like. But I do remember these from junior college.

I know Robert Frost, William Shakespeare, Anne Bradstreet,Walt Whitman, Emily Dickenson (I think,) Bob Dylan, and I believe that may be a young Carl Sandburg, but I can't figure out the good looking young guy under the picture of Anne Bradstreet, if that is Anne Bradstreet.

WOW Rhetta, I have to admit that one: Anne Bradstreet, she was my ace-in-the-hole, figured no one would get her. I love her "In reference to Her Children" penned in June of 1659. Four of your other guesses are also right. The 'cute' guy under Anne is an American legend, he wrote one of the most sung American songs (poem really) ever written.

Had to Georgiana, though he's not my favorite singer, he's my favorite poet. I have all his lyrics in a hardbound book (along with some of his drawings) and all but two of his albums.

In the 90's I re-wrote Desolation Row. Though he chose not to do anything with the piece, I did receive a personal letter. That was nice.

I still can't figure out the young guys, but I did realize that that is Henry Wadsworth Longefellow and not Walt Whitman.
