There's nothing like being at your own book signing. I guess maybe it's just that I feel at home in my own skin as a writer.
There were six authors on the balcony overlooking the first floor of the store. It was a lot of fun and I sold five books. I met some very interesting writers. The young man next to me was an author who wrote a book about how to find women on the internet. He said, "I'm calling myself Flyness today." In his other life he's an engineer, but I thought his book was clever and a lot of fun.
The men who drifted by obviously memorized the title until they could get to their computers ... the women picked up the book and wanted to talk. Flyness told them his next book would be for them.
I plugged mine as "Harry Potter for adults" ... which in a way, it is. As I wrote on my blog tonight, I still see it as a movie.
Is it P.C. to mention my blog at blogspot? (www.wildsparrow-dreaming.blogspot.com).
Anyway, I put the full cast over there. If I could, I'd play a part myself. If I were younger, it would be great to play Theowla Twomothers, the priestess assassin. Given my age, I'd rather like to be Zelwyn the traveling healer or the old crone Kalista who walked with the Nightwing on the inner planes, as the ancient one lay dying.
Maybe at my next book signing, I should say, "I'm calling myself Croneness today."
