Explanations for her reasons differ.

NY Post: Kennedy pulled out after learning Paterson had decided against choosing her.

NY Times: She pulled out due to concern for Sen. Ted Kennedy's health, following his seizure Tuesday.

NYT says Kennedy spoke with Gov. Paterson Wednesday afternoon, and plans to release statement later Wednesday evening.

There seems to be questions about whether she has withdrawn or not. Some sources say she has, while others say she has not, according to CNN, who are not even sure themselves. They are saying that people close to her -- who should be "in the know" -- aren't aware of her withdrawal, sooooo,

I'm going to wait and see, although I'm tending to believe that she has withdrawn. The story had to originate from somewhere, right?

Not very happy with the New York governor, though. What makes Cuomo a more qualified candidate than Caroline, Mr. Goofy Governor?

According to a statement she released this morning, she has withdrawn for unspecified personal reasons, which leaves her reason(s) open to speculation.

Personally, I tend to side with commentator, (I don't remember who) who said Caroline always has been more of a Bouvier than a Kennedy, which I interpreted as meaning she lacked the Kennedy political gene and expected to be selected without having to really fight for the position. While Jackie was willing to stand next to her husband and wave and smile, she wasn't much of a political animal either.

Yep, you're correct Carol, which is why I came back to this article. According to CNN, she cites, "personal reasons".

What a drag.

I wonder what "Uncle Teddy" is going to say, if he doesn't already know. I would think he probably already does, though.

she was an empty suit... end of story, and end of her career in politics. she can continue as a family spokesperson (though, she has not immediate family left) and the dems can wheel her out every four years when the national elections come around.
