VP Biden and Wife Jill

I don't write political articles usually, this may be my first discussing politics, and this is just "semi" political anyway; but kind of bugged me on a point. That point being trust in political denials etc.

Vice President Biden and his wife Jill were on Oprah the other day, and Jill made a comment that Mr. Biden clearly didn't want to talk about, and "shushed" her on stage. He then turned red and told her to go ahead. You know, "what the heck."

At the very end of a video I will paste here, his staff(?) makes an announcement that seems to contradict everything seen on the video to me; a denial that makes no sense given what was said. I don't think Joe Biden had anything to do with it myself, the denial apparently happened so fast; but who knows for sure. I also hope Obama's people didn't call Joe's people and 'do lunch' either on what to release.

The press release seems to be calling Jill Biden a liar? So either she lied (I don't think so) or they are! Joe Biden made no corrections on the show either by the way that I know about? I didn't see the show. Anyway, unless I'm all wet here, it seems so blatantly obvious to me that his staff can't be trusted now in any future statements to the media. If Joe approved this first too, that's even worse in my opinion. Though a little thing really, except perhaps to Hillary Clinton, these guys should tell us the truth, or just no comment! I'm actually a little insulted here.... well, should be anyway, LOL. Politics, I love to hate it!

What do you think? Should Joe Biden fire/reprimand one of his people for calling his wife a liar, or maybe back his wife publicly? Did anybody see this Oprah show live?

I did not see the show but I did see the clip and watched the one you posted too. All I can say is someone is lying and I don't think it is Mrs Biden. Yes the person should be fired who wrote the press release. He is Vice Presient for a day and the lies are starting already. If he wants anyone to take him seriously he better get rid of the people who are doing this already.

They should have left it alone. It wasn't a big deal to most of us who actually saw it.

Most people don't even care if Biden was offered both positions, he is more than qualified for both!

I don't know what they should do, honestly, I think I'm beyond caring at this point.

Boy, somebody doesn't like me already, LOL. I happen to kind of like Joe Biden too, LOL. Not always his opinions, but he seems like a regular guy to me... oh well.

I saw the show, it was a live show, and what she said was that Joe was offered two positions to choose from......Secretary of State or VP....Jill said they discussed it as a family and thought that Secretary of State would take him away from home too much of the time so he chose VP. I got the impression that if he had chosen Secretary of State, Hillary would have been picked for VP......I might be wrong but that's how it sounded to me.

I saw that segment and the news follow-ups. Personally, I thought it was kind of humorous and am guessing that her memory was out of context to an actual conversation, where "what-ifs" were being discussed, not offers.

I can understand why it was done. Does Obama's camp really want the entire world to know that Hillary wasn't first choice for S.O.S? How can she be an effective leader, if it's known that her own peers don't think as much of her as they would like everyone to believe? It's better strategy to paint Jill Biden as an uninformed bigmouth. I think what really should concern us, is the Bidens lack of discretion. If they let something this big slip on national television, what do they say when 'no one is watching?'

Thanks for the input folks. As I mentioned in the post, the Oprah slip was a small thing to me as an "issue", it was the response from his staff spokesperson immediately after. Irked me some was all.
If I was Mrs. Biden, or Dr. Biden as Jersey pointed out, I wouldn't be too happy with that either. Somebody is lying to the media regardless is the point, and I don't think it is her. You could tell CNN wasn't buying it either...

This is weird. It seems so catty of Biden's wife to brag.
It was kind of cheap and could have been hurtful to
Hillary Clinton. The team of rivals ideas is supposed to
be people of the other party!

Biden just let it go, but his wife has the same foot

Looks like someone on the Obama/Biden staff has an issue with "transparency". I guess the newly mandated transparency policy and mandated ethics training announced by Obama will flush these problems away! Maybe????

Hillary Clinton is pretty tough(?), I doubt she is "hurt" in any way, but I could see it as a question of trust or something by her if she didn't know... Now Bill, he might be hurt, LOL.

Maybe Biden made it up to try and impress the wifey poo and didn't expect her to say anything about it, now he's embarassed because he was busted in a lie? Who knows.

And wow John, look at the # of views you got on this aritcle, you were #1 on the front page with this. Maybe you should write more political articles?

I don't know why it would matter to Hillary. The news media made it very clear a while back that Obama was going to have to offer her some sort of possition because he "owed" her. That's already a sad enough statement as to why she would be chosen for any position at all.

My impression when I saw it was that she was trying to make a joke, particularly because the "shush" was one of those over the top things (like when I shush my boyfriend when he jokes about where I hide the bodies). But then the blogosphere latched onto it, and so someone had to issue a press release to set the record straight.

Moggy- that's a definite possibility I hadn't thought of.... good one! It's funny you say that, Gather once asked me to do exactly that early last year! Perhaps I should? I dunno' though, I love to hate politics as I said before, and as I told Gather at the time; but I'm not sure it is worth it... you know what I mean? Though I'm sure I could stir the pot with the best of them, LOL. Thanks for the tip and views etc., I didn't know.... been busy.

I really don't know see what difference it makes. I think everyone knows that Hillary Clinton was never going to be a first choice for Obama on anything considering how they bickered before Obama's nomination. It is just goofy the whole thing.

It doesn't matter to me either way. I'm happy that he's VP but Sec. of State would have been okay too.
Politics as usual. The official line is the Hillary Clinton always was the first choice for Secretary of State. Maybe Jill Biden can become Martha Mitchell. :) Nah, she doesn't drink nearly enough.

I saw an interview with George and Laura Bush a couple of weeks ago where GWB answered most of the questions directed at his wife. That one didn't make me feel so good either.
