The flutter of a butterfly's wing reminds me to celebrate the sanctity of every moment.
During my thirties I was an active wife, mother and photographer who loved the outdoors. Then I suffered a neck injury, had a surgery and a complication that created a major breathing obstruction. I underwent another surgery to create a hole in my neck to bypass the obstruction. My health declined and I mostly lived in a recliner attached to breathing machines.
My world was out of balance. I took up writing and figured out through journaling that I had food and airborne allergies. This realization allowed me to improve my health. I thought I was doing great until this year when medical tests came back showing I had diabetes and osteoporosis, probably due to the fact I was less active.
Exercise helps both conditions. Going to a gym is out of the question because of cleaning chemicals. My solution would be to get a Wii fit. I would be able to work out in a safe environment and track my progress.
What about the food issue? I'm allergic to anything with preservatives, dyes or additives. This is expensive. I would love to go to a health food store and stock up on natural food. The variety of options, including Boca products, would push me toward getting my diabetes and osteoporosis under control.
I want to get back into balance so I can sit outside in the summer and watch butterflies, with my new grandson.

I think the worst problem is how this places a financial and emotional burden on the family. But a good attitude is the best way to deal with these daily trials. It sounds to me as if you have maintained a great balance in thinking during your trials.
Christine, we all have our own roadblocks when we travel this world. I wish you the best in finding a positive path.
Beverly, I spent too long in the land of the negative. It was only when I started writing that I came out of the dark world into the possibility world. Now that I know how I can control some of the issues it is much easier. You are so right about the financial and emotional burden on the family.
Tammy, thanks!
Sassy Cat, I look forward to the time with the little guy watching butterflies!

Thanks Linda.
Deborah and Katherine, your words are greatly appreciated.
Patti, thanks for your kind words and you are very welcome.
Marianna, I had a time in my life when I wasn't positive. Now I try to move toward the positive.
Fran, thanks for the good thoughts!
William, your words always inspire.
The new husband had just sat down to the first dinner cooked by his new bride. He fished a piece of paper out of what was supposed to be a stew. He unfolded the paper and read, "Nobly, nobly Cape St. Vincent to the Northwest died away."
"What the heck is this?"
"Well," the young wife replied, "the recipe said that if the stew was too thin, I should add some Browning."
i pray things get better for you soon... your grandson is sooo precious...
things improve for you. That would be hard to cope with.
and move around more these days.
I do hope you can get a handle on your health and find what works best for you. Exercise is always good, one step at a time. Enjoy your grandson, you are very lucky to have one.

Grrr, none of the graphic sites, that I have been trying to use are not working.
I wish you improved health, happiness, and many butterflies.
I hope you can get this under control. And congrats on your new grandbaby! :)
I, too, have learned how precious and amazing life really is! I hope that you find something that you can do. One thing I love is weight training - though some connective tissues I have are so out of shape at this point that it's hard to have the patience to cope with the tediousness of REALLY REALLY light weights to let the tendons and ligaments grow slowly. When you are totally aware you can lift fifty pounds it's really frustrating to work out with two because of what the repetition can do to you...
I hope your health improves - with your attitude, I can't see why it wouldn't. :)
I had a life altering incident as well, so I can to some extent relate..My favorite passtime is to sit among or sometimes dance among the butterflies.
wow--- go for it! Gotta love butterflies... especially with little children around. I'm with you.
What a beautiful essay, I hope you have the faith and the strength to do the thing you need and the thing you enjoy too.
It is great that you are doing everything you can to combat your obstacles. I used to get cold symptoms every spring, and doctors would prescribe cold medicines that never worked. Then one year after I moved to a new place I went into a doctor's office and he said "It's spring, you are allergic to pollen". He put me on a nasal spray for it, and that solved my problem. It was great to finally have a diagnosis, and know what to do for it. It sounds like you are carefully following what is best for your issures.
Did you get your wiifit?
Good luck with your health! My husband and I are working on ours too. HAving some close-calls. All the best!
hope things will go better for you in the future 10
