OK, both sides in this are just wacky! So what if we spent a bit on the inaugural events? So what if the RNC wanted to go ga ga on Sarah Palin's wardrobe? Didn't that money spent mean that some Americans at least got paid to work that day? If the money was spent here in America, some workers at least benefited from it. In this economy I say Woo Hoo!! Let's hold another inauguration if it will keep people working. We are in a rough place right now and anything that is helping people buy food and pay the rent I say should be applauded and encouraged. Yes there will be taxes to be paid but darn it folks people need to work now. Kids are going hungry now. You can all postulate about the righteousness of your beliefs and rail against big government but if you aren't going to pony up to make sure your neighbors have jobs, don't sit there and squawk about the spending when it means those neighbors get to eat and stay in their homes. Last time I checked we were all Americans and that is supposed to mean that regardless of our political ideologies we ultimately stand together for the good of everyone. If some of us are suffering then all of us are lessened by it. If government spending keeps kids from starving and people from becoming homeless then it should be done. Hard working people are losing their homes because government let lenders make promises they could never keep. If government can now make amends for that then it is incumbent apon them to do so. Big or small, if government does not serve the majority it is useless and of late it has been pretty darned useless.

Mark-John, pray tell, what should I learn? People working event security and other support roles, Americans. They benefited from the inaugural events. People working in the clothing shops and shipping docks and all of the roles that supported the clothes getting onto Palin's back from the time the clothes entered the supply stream to the time they got into her shopping bag, Americans. They benefitted from the sales of those clothes in some manner. Please let those with disposable income spend it in ways that employs Americans. Wal-Mart may indeed be a socially backwards company with the ethics of Satan himself but the one in my town employs a lot of people that otherwise would have no jobs. Sucky jobs are better than no jobs and yes we need to look to the future in public policy but we also need to take care of today. It is easy to criticize big government when you're not worried about paying the bills. Taxes are the least of many people's concerns right now, especially taxes going up on rich people who would not give them the time of day if they met them on the street. Am I missing something? What exactly am I being ignorant of?

I could care less about Barry Soertoro and his inauguration, I didn't watch it, saw enough headlines without reading articles to keep informed, thought the gold piece of crap that the UnAmerican first lady wore belonged in the trash and was ugly as all get out. I thought she was trying to be look like someone from the 60s, and doing a bad job of it, hair included. i would not have been the one to sign the person who did her hair to a reality show.........

As far as the clothes for Palin, IDGARA, it was the RNC that wanted her to have them, and if they wanted to spend 150K on them more power to them...........whatever.
