In My Lifetime

I am too young to remember Vietnam but I remember watching on TV the soldiers getting off airplanes and the crowds booing.

I remember Watergate....barely.

I wasn't alive to experience JFK.

I don't remember Bobby Kennedy getting shot.

We have come along way as a nation and have much further to go.

The election of Barack Obama is more than just electing an African American into the White house.  It is proof that as a country we can look past everything and do what we feel is the best thing for our nation.

It seems in the last 8 years we have become more aware of our civil rights and liberties.  The same liberties we see being taken away from us.

If the last 8 years have taught us one thing it is too hold our freedoms close and our families closer.

Human life has been devalued to dollars and cents.

It is not Haliburton or Boeing that makes this one of the greatest countries on the face of the earth.

It is me...it is you.

We need to rethink our values.

We need to love our planet and take care of it. 

It is our responsibility to leave our world a better place for our children and they in turn will leave it a better place for their children.

We need to stop thinking in terms of Republican and Democrat but Americans.

We need to not give Obama a pass and make sure he does what he promised the American people we would accomplish.

We need to realize that the President and Vice President are there for us.  Along with all the Representative.  They either do they job or we will find someone to take their place.

We need to be willing to roll up our sleeves and work hard.  Our freedoms come with a price of hard work.

Let the old wounds heal and rejoice in today.
