John Middleton had seen more than half the world by the time he was 18. No, he wasn't a military kid. John's father was disliked by his father's father-in-law (Jesse Theodore, or JT for short), who cried when his daughter got married. John's father, Rebus J, (RJ), was an employee at his father-in-law's Winterizing Products factory. He made so many mistakes that he was known as all thumbs Rebus. JT was about to fire him when his daughter, Janet, told him she was going to marry RJ. JT tried every bribe he could think of to dissuade her from marrying 'All Thumbs.' Janet was in love with RJ and that was that (because her mother approved).
It was obvious that JT could not afford the constant factory floor problems, but firing RJ, whom his wife adored, was simply not an option. JT mused about this problem and then one day, in his reading room, he saw an article about the Peter Principle and the dye was set. At first, Janet was very upset because her husband was being sent to foreign places without her. See, RJ was given a promotion and a fancy title. JT's wife was so happy to hear this and JT felt he had solved a problem by sending the jackass overseas, but there's always a catch.
RJ was sent to places such as The Cayman Islands, Tahiti and other such places where no one would even think about buying the company's Winterizing products. Of course RJ had absolutely zero success, but JT assured him he was doing a valuable service to the company just by introducing the products to foreigners. This of course made RJ feel like a very important man, but Janet was furious. Well, she talked to Janice, JT's wife and they both had a pleasant day talking about grandchildren. When Janet told Janice this was impossible because RJ was always away on company business, well, feathers flew.
Janice told JT that sending RJ overseas was insuring that they would never have grandchildren and said, 'If you ever want to have a soft candlelight supper with me again, you'll send Janet with RJ on company trips.' JT still had a few hormones left, so he hesitantly acceded to his wife's demands. Janet always had a fondness for rabbits and carried her lucky rabbit's foot with her everywhere and it wasn't long until there was a child. John was the first and the most traveled of their children.
This story is not about JT, RJ, Janice, or Janet. This story is about John, a master of languages and the proprietor of an idea to find words that have the same meaning, the same spelling and the same sound in any language. John has been working on this for years.
