This is a place where people from different cultures can meet and get to know one another - sit across the table and chat, without fear of criticism.
Here, we can discuss beliefs, share information, ask questions, and explore the 'whys' that seem to distance us from one another, or make understanding difficult. This is a place for safe, honest communications about cultural differences. Please invite international friends to make the party bigger.

Home Is Where Every Heart Belongs
Post stories, articles, announcements, and poems about the homeless or organizations working to help them. Original work only. No games, no 'how do you feel' questions, no one-liners.
Please post stories, articles, or poems that tell a story, motivate others to take action, bring awareness, or document statistics. Especially welcomed are announcements for those who want to get involved and take action.
Membership open to everyone. Content moderated.
Writing Tips is a group where those who are serious about writing can share information about writing or request critique.
Posts not pertaining to nuts and bolts of writing (grammar, punctuation, character development, how to, point of view, selling your work, etc.) must be flagged CRITIQUE WANTED in the first line. This group is NOT a place for those who are trying to sell services.
Membership open to all. Content monitored.
Honest politician - not an oxymoron
Do you know an honest politician? A politician you love and trust? Tell us about this person, and how s/he earned your trust and vote.
Articles must be original, and at least 300 words. Politicians may be local or national. While I enjoy most political articles, if yours is not about an individual politician that you respect, it doesn’t belong in this group.

A group for Psychopants and Tushiemunchers
This group is for original, creative, edited, humor. Other content accepted if it lends itself to and you are willing to accept snark in the comment thread.
If insincere comments and ratings, writers who publish the first thing that comes to mind without regard for quality, worn out topics, and mindless drivel make you scream, this is the group for you. It was created for satirical jabs at the lack of quality showing up and earning praise on Gather, and later expanded to include other articles if the content lends itself to the addition of snark in the comments.
A few reminders:
* If the purpose of your article is to earn points, it probably does not belong in this group.
* If any portion of your title can be found on two or more articles published today, it probably does not belong in this group.
* If your errors are not obviously intentional and begging for ridicule, your article probably does not belong in this group.
* If your connections leave generic comments, copy and paste comments, or flashing picture comments, you probably do not belong in this group.

Relationships - Who Do We Love
Post articles that will generate discussion about attractions and relationships – what makes us care about others?
The purpose of this group is to generate discussion, and we ask that everyone who publishes here put some thought into an article. One line or paragraph asking others to do the thinking will not be accepted. Articles, essays, stories, or poems that generate on topic discussion will be accepted. Please be willing to monitor and participate in discussion of your post.
Membership open to everyone. Content monitored.
Write about body parts - stories, poems, personal essays, letters to or from, etc. This is a good exercise for those with chronic pain or image issues. It is also fun!
Membership open to everyone. Content monitored.
Tell others why you chose the icon that you use to represent you on Gather.
Why did you choose the photo that you use for your icon? What does it say about you? Do you use the same one on other sites? Keep the same one or change around?
Please make this a complete article, not just a line.
Membership open to everyone. Content monitored.
Good-bye, I'm Out of Here Articles
This group is for the not-so-serious good-bye articles. If you haven’t quit yet this week, what’s stopping you?
Created when a flood of people threatened to leave, or pretended to leave, or accused someone (me) of causing them to leave. This group is for admittedly fake good-bye Gather articles. They must be sappy and attract at least a dozen "please don't leave" comments or they will be removed.
This group houses apologies (usually snarky) to those we’ve slandered or caused to slander us on this site.
Hurting someone else is not a prerequisite for apology. There's a world of hurt out there. Let this be the place to make it better. You can even apologize for those who do not have the heart or maturity to do it themselves.
Writing critique group - serious writers seeking feedback. Writing technique is the only thing discussed in this group.
Private – content visible only to members of the group. Content must be posted only to this group. Membership and content monitored.
Are you tired of drivel for points?
Satire - create games that require thought and scare the other gamers...
Absolutely NO list-one-answer-per-comment requirements allowed. If it doesn’t make me laugh and require creative thought on the part of those who play the game, I will not accept your game in this group.

100 Interesting Things About Me
In response to Jennifer Blaney's article - 100 Interesting Things About Me - this group is a place for Gather members to publish their lists of 100 interesting things about themselves. Also accepted are 100 interesting things about a character in your book.
Please don't use this group for anything other than 100 interesting things you want to share about yourself or your fictional characters (great exercise for character development). One or two interesting things about your pet, your child, your spouse, or your neighborhood do not qualify.
I will no longer accept any list with less than 100 items. If you can't think of 100 on your first try, keep your list and work on it until you have. Trust me - we all have 100 interesting things about us.
Membership open to everyone. Content moderated.

I do not accept articles in any of my groups unless they are open to everyone for comments, without screening by the poster.

Time Heals, please post those close-ups to Body Part Stories with the whole gruesome story. I'll bring a box of tissues to pass around while we read.
I'd like to see your knees.
Thanks for your interest, JustMe.
Sandy, wonderful (says I, building courage by the day). This is all very good. Now...let's see...
I have a prize if you post one article to each group.
Really? You should have a Gather Contest for this prize!!!
sit in that rocker an rock a while
(I do remove big, flashing pictures but I copy and repost the message left with the picture - if there is one - the name of the person who left the comment, and a note explaining why I removed the big, flashing, never-on-topic picture. I also removed some of Linda A.'s spamming comments before the election, because they were destructive lies about Barack Obama, full article length, copied and pasted from some right-wing rags, not in the best interest of my country, and repeated on every article she visited.)
Was it ever Sandra?
Priscilla (reclaiming my identity)
You are the biggest critic on Gather, and you are such a . . . Never mind, I wouldn't stoop so low as to call you what you are . . I hope you get all you deserve in life.
Once again, Carol, you prove that you don't quite understand what you are trying to express. It's okay, though. I expect nothing more from you. And thanks, I do get what I deserve in life. It's nice.
