Much to do- about nothing!

You know the only thing that I can see that disturbs my well being?

I really find it quite strange actually.

The spectacle of President Obama ascenion to this God like majesty reserved for people who have already proven their worth in history.

Don't get me wrong - I am all for fairy tales and want him to succeed.
He has been given a true gift and like the Ring he must always be aware of what that means?

I pray that he is for real, but I have read this book so many times before.

In Theatre -writers do the Greek Tragedys- just a few of lifes comedies- and tragedies as opportunities.

I have done it in my own life- everybody plays the fools sometimes- theres no exception to the rule.

The pomp & ceremony is for the masses- that need to celebrate and get either inspired or obnoxious and possibly inebriated- Hey it's a party!

So many just want to be entertained.

So that maybe for that instance they can escape in the fantasy.

Not all fantasies are what we expect some open pandoras boxes that we as frighten children never seem to recover from.

T be inspired when I am brought down- to the day by day and brick by brick of changing the course of our countrys direction.

All the words will be cheap, because we have already been there- and done that- and now it is the time for change.

"We want the world and we want it- Now! NoW! NOW!

"So when the music is over- turn off the lights"

Lets make it happen!

In the shallow confines of a persons life -there are so many more important things to deal with? Don't you think?

Game On!  First quarter of the last half.

Don't dissapoint Us!

The whole world is watching and you can step up or shatter?

There is nothing God-like about the Presidency. To me, it is not even revered anymore. This incoming person is going to have his work cut out for him, and it isn't going to be any picnic. Nobody knows what is going to happen, but do you remember that in George Bush's first year of office we had 9/11? So this, the first year of Obama's presidency is up for grabs; we can have a world demolition, and he can be in the midst of it, and then we can see how he handles it, or whatever. We are going to find out, are we not?

Everyone wants change right now, right this very minute. Well bud I hate to tell ya, it ain't gonna happen. Obama, in my opinion, will do his best to bring about change, but it's not going to happen over night. It will take time, and he and his cabinet may even stumble.

Congress has way more power than the president, as was evident in the last few years....but all we can do is wait and see. I just wish the gov't wasn't spending so much money for all of this hype.

If this inauguration is the only thing that disturbs your well being, I want to live in the same rarefied and ideal world you inhabit. To me it is small potatoes, indeed! We always inaugurate a new president, even if he has already completed a term. It is always rife with pomp and ceremony. The persons involved always seem to have qualities no mortal actually possesses. Why should it be any different for OBama?

I certainly agree with you that the test comes when the rubber hits the road and day to day actions and decisions are made which will shape the next four years at a minimum. I certainly wish Obama the very best of luck as I, like all Americans, have a vested interest in his success.

If you reference any qualities of deity possessed by Obama, those exist only in the minds of some of his detractors who make ridiculous claims to disparage him. You'll never hear that BS from any supporter. No one knows how well he will do, he is untried, as are all persons elected for the first time. That's the way the founding fathers intended it!

I agree..it all seems to be a bit much this time around...I mean celebrate if you must...but could we tone it down just a bit....

I think he will do his best but man he has his work cut out for him....I do not envy the man at all!! I think the money they spend on all the pomp should be donated to homless shelters, it is dang cold out there! Forget the thousand dollar a dish dinner, have a pot luck!!! :>}

I think we are all expecting so much from this President, after 8 bitter years of promise and disappointments from Cheney and Bush. There is so much to be done to make things right again, if that is ever possible, and Obama or FDR or Kennedy could not do it on his own. The question is whether he can convince people to do what needs be done, when they all have their personal agendas. I wish him luck.

I think his supporters who have felt he will be the answer to all are in for a rude awakening. His detractors have had their eyes open the entire time. But the flawed rocket is ready for ignition and we have started the countdown. Let's see if it makes it out of the atmosphere.

I can proudly say hubby and I will NOT be watching,, the whole big fanfare is getting out of hand,, we have a totally cool day plan together, with lunch casino and movies at home with alittle of no no inbetween .....

I sure hope after all the pomp and circumstances are finished that there will be a reality to what to me seems to be a celebration that has very little to do with anything.
The whole world is watching and hopefully it will not be another dissapointment like so many in our past and that we as a people can come together for the salvation of future generations and leave all our petty bickering outside and work together to do the work that we have to do.
Lip service will no longer work, but action always speaks louder than words.
I have a dream- does not make reality, but words can never be the thing and the thing is what we need to address now.

I am in agreemnt with you that those who thought Obama was going to be the answer to everything are in for a disappointment. Likewise, those who thought he was going to be the horror of the century are likewise, in for a disappointment. He is a man, and one who will try his best, to serve the post to which he has been elected, much as many or most of his predecessors have done. He has acknowledged being simply a man with a desire to do what is right.

And, like his predecessors, he will please some and anger others while hopefully accomplishing at least a little of what he set out to do. Less than that, he will be the most disappointed of us all, more than that, and he will be memorable!

The good thing about journals is I can always go back into them - when time permits and edit and clarify.
My life is always in flux and the only constant for me is change.
