Polar Bears Playing Underwater -- Photos

I tend to take a lot of photos, so when the polar bears at the Detroit Zoo were playing around in the water, I tried to get a few good shots. It would have been easier if I had a different lens on the camera and if there had been a lot less people. I do hope you enjoy.

 

 

 

 

 

The smaller female is the daughter of the larger female.

She was looking in at us as she swam over.

One of the bears went up for air, and the other just dragged her back down. It was so fun to watch...I think this is one of my favorite shots.

I do wish the last couple shots were better, but the bears were moving so quickly.

Great pictures! Did you go to the zoo in this cold winter weather? Were there many animals out this time of year? Last time we went in the summer most of the animals were hiding and we didn't get to see them. The big cats and the big apes and other monkeys were mostly gone. There were a lot less animals than in years past.

Some of these are great, Jax! It sounds like you got these even without a polarizing filter! Thanks for posting. I've been to a number of zoos over the years but never that one.

Excellent photo essay. You do wonderful work. You must live out near the detroit zoo or else you go once and take a gazillion photos. Either way, you do excellent work.

omg.. I bet that was so much fun! I have never seen polar bears at a zoo.. well at ours in Oklahoma any ways.. They seem as entertaining as the monkeys! Pictures turned our great too

Wow That is so cool. I would love to go to a zoo and see this stuff in real. WE did go to a zoo once when we were at Victorias but we did not see anything like this
