There was an ad on the TV recently about how many lives are saved by one person's donation and I'm planning to see if I can donate blood or not.  I don't know if they'll let me but I figure I can at least TRY.  And if I can, that will be a good thing to do.

I am a blood donor. What makes you think you might not be able too? The biggest restriction is extensive overseas travel. There are also some medications that make you ineligible.

I have never donated blood. My husband use to but since he served in Iraq they won't accept his blood anymore.

i WISH that i could donate blood... i don't weigh enough, though. little skinny me is only 110 pounds... you have to be 115 to give blood... when i gain a little weight, i will try again

I'm not sure if they will let me. I have a high white blood cell count and they can't figure out why.

I donate my blood. I have the Rh factor in my blood so it's in demand most places. Which means hopefully they will have some for me if they ever need it. It's a worthy cause. I used to do it in college for money, alot of kids did. Now I go up to the Knights of Columbus hall once a month and give there.

I have donated in the past but won't be able to for a while thanks to chemotherapy drugs. It's really not as gruesome as some people think it is and besides one day someone you love may need blood. Or yourself, for that matter!

Am also an rh negative, which puts my blood in demand. I donated until an incident two years ago in which I was ill from donating for 3 weeks. It has to do with weight (underweight) and the heart attacks I had back then,methinks,but my donating days are over. It feels GREAT to be able to help someone else in crisis. I would recommend for anyone who can, to do so...

I can't because of my weight either. The minimum is 110 pounds here and I am not there yet.

I used to be, but I have both an unexplained high white count and anemia so they won't take my blood.

I have tried to donate blood, but there was either a huge waiting line or they wouldn't accept my blood for some other reason.

I donated blood one time and I nearly fell down faint. Later, I tried to donate a couple more times and I wasn't eligible for health reasons. I am still not eligible and may not be for the rest of my life anymore. I really liked the party atmosphere my blood bank put on when they do the drives. If I could donate again, I would.

I'm not because they won't let me because of all the medicines I am on. Along with my heart problems I sure with I could however.

I have tried one time and they miss the vein in each arm, I got very light headed. Then I was told me I'm not a candidate. I refuse to believe that and I want to try again, however my husband worries they are right. I have been told I have a falling blood pressure, would that effect it?

I can't, i get all sick & feel like throwing up. Last time I did so they had tos top & feed me cookies & orange juice.

I've donated blood and don't have any qualms about doing it again. It never made me lightheaded or weak, as sometimes it will do to people.

No, No, No, I don't do this. Everytime I donated blood, I almost fainted afterwards, became very confused for hours. I am advised not to donate blood. It does something to my glucose levels
I have never donated blood before. I used to be registered with the Red Cross in case they needed me though. I have such a rare blood type that only one in a few million has it.

I always try to. But i'm anemic. I don't ever have enough iron in my blood. That's probably why i'm ALWAYS cold and I live in sun scorching Texas. :p

Yes I am. I am also anemic, but my doctor has me taking iron pills every night so I am full of iron and have no problem giving.

If you are too light or too heavy
if you are too young or too old
If your blood pressure's too high or too low
You can't give blood or so I'm told

If you'e pregnant or aneamic
they will not let you be a donor
If you're gay or sleep with hookers
use needles or if you are a stoner

I think that nearly covers everything
If you travelled widely all about
High risk of tainted blood you bring
And if you're sick or injured, you are out

So if you can give blood you're blessed
If you want to help you will save lives
and you will pass a moral test
and your blood may save your children or your wife
