Playing Gather Solitaire

Zero temperature here in Virginia. Just home from a book event where I talked about what's new in fiction, books under the radar, and my second novel, Waltzing Cowboys (an editor's pick for December on Bookviews.com). So I'm playing the Gather Solitaire game. I pick a random post, read through comments and choose one I can reply to, reply, then go to that person's website and choose one of their posts, comment and go to one of the sites of one of their comments. It takes me all over the country and covers a wide range of topics. Funny to see where and if there are any issues that recur. Dear Gather friends, I'm supposed to be writing.

Interesting way to view gather. I tend to support my connections and that keeps me busy enough.

I've done that - I thought it was called "Getting lost in cyber space". I usually emerge with cool new friends after cyberstalking them to unknown gather territory. It's an amusing past time - but you really need to limit yourself to a certain time frame.

It's like a box of pralines, you have to decide which one to choose and close the box - you can't indulge yourself all day long.

So indulge in diverting yourself - if you've done all that talking at your book event - you need a mental brake. You can always tell yourself, it may bring you new inspiration for writing...:)

I took a break for dinner and a great concert by Alex Caton and Phil Audibert, local bluegrass/Irish fiddle musicians, and now I'm ready to write. But I know I'll return to the game because I meet such interesting people doing that kind of comment solitaire.
