Chris turned 10 this week, and Gillian turned 7 in late December. Due to the proximity to Christmas, and how close the birthdays are to one another, we always do a joint birthday party in January for the kids. Tomorrow is the party.
I've gotten 2 dozen cupcakes baked today, and the house has been scrubbed clean (it won't last, sigh). I have a -small- list of things to pick up tomorrow. We have a few adults coming, plus my nieces Alex & Cadee, and nephew Josh. Nick's co-worker is bringing her daughter Cadie over (incidentally- both are named Cadence!) as well. She and Gilly were in school together until Halloween when they moved to a different city near by.
None of Gilly's friends RSVP'd, so I'm not expecting them. Hoping for one or two, but not expecting. All of Chris's friends said no. Ah well, it'll still be a decent party.
Maybe to alleviate some of the stress next year of trying to accommodate friends, I'll let Gilly have a small friends only party after school in early December, before her birthday. Maybe. Not sure. I know a lot of the families in the area have been hit hard by the recession, and I have a feeling that might be why Gilly's friends don't come. I didn't think to write in gifts were not neccessary. She'd have more fun just having them here than anything.
Oh well- when it gets warmer, maybe she can have a play date. Chris is all right with his friends saying no. I'm not sure if that's good or bad yet.

You're braver than I am...I don't do parties.
Usually, despite what we do with her, though, she still has small parties. I never did understand the parents who will invite the entire class to a birthday. I can't deal with that many kids, even if most of them don't come.
I hope the party went well!!!
