I Woke Up To Frozen Pipes This Morning.

I woke up this morning to find that the pipes in the house froze.

No water.

Nothing.

There is more water flowing in the Arizona desert right now than there is in my house here in New Hampshire.

At 4:00 AM this morning, it was -19 degrees.

Yes, that is nineteen degrees below zero.

I have never seen it this cold in my life.

Right now, I am taking a break to thaw out from being in the basement.

I will have to make some phone calls.

I have been thinking about moving to the Los Angeles area in a few months.

That time frame may be moved up.

I am not a winter person.

In fact, I have had enough of winter for many years.

Sometimes there is good that comes from bad.

Maybe Los Angeles is that good thing.

I have wanted to do this for a long time.

California here I come!

Sounds like us yesterday. IT was about the same weather, and our pipes were frozen in 3 different places. My dad drove over to help us, and we borrowed a heat gun from the neighbor, which sped the entire process up quite a bit. After everything was thawed, we wrapped several pipes in insulating tape like wrap, then put foam around the hoses for the water softener, and sealed the basement up a bit better from the cold leaking in. Oh no, that's horrible!! There's nothing worse than frozen/broken water pipes.....I just really hope that they don't break.......I know what you mean, as I live in Iowa and we've been having those ungodly cold temperatures........we had frozen water pipes in the toilet but, thankfully, nothing else, so we put an oil heater in the bathroom, right next to the toilet and that unfroze the pipes. Arghhhh......seems like this winter has been the worst in history for the Arctic temperatures....sure hope you get things fixed soon....take care, and get warmed up!!!

Ok, I understand your feelings and that is why I moved to Florida, but consider the flip side of California. Earthquakes, fires, SAnta Anna winds, riots and only two colors to nature, green and brown.

In this case, "The grass is always browner on the other side."

For me the other side meant, hurricanes, unbearable humidty, summers that last for six months, Snow Birds and worst of all, no Fall.

I went through the frozen pipe thing several times. Once in the middle of a Super Bowl party. It is no fun at al.

Frozen pipes, my sympathies. It is not nearly as cold here as it gets where you live, but I've had frozen pipes before. Thanks for reminding me I need to keep my faucets dripping.

That's a bummer. Just don't try to thaw them with a blow torch. There have been unintellegent people that have burned their places down doing that. I'm not kidding. It is -3 here. I can't stand it.

Knock on wood, we haven't had that problem but it is cold. Sorry for your troubles. I know that it stinks to have that happen. That used to happen when I was with my ex as we lived in a trailer.

ugh. hope the thaw soon. We leave our dripping so they wont freeze. I am in NC and it's not in the negatives, but teens here. We jsut aren't use to tha kind of cold.

Oh so sorry to hear about the pipes being froze up. We had 5 degrees this morning, so honestly 19 is warm by compare. California.....well safe trip. I'm not leaving the house today.

Not a good thing to happen to you. Where I am in Australia it is hot. Fill the kette up before up go to bed at night so you have water for a cupper in the morning.

frozen pipes is one thing I hated about living in the trailer house, but otherwise I loved it. We don't have that problem here at mom's because of the basement (where I live)

Weather and climate are two different things. The wide swings in weather are a function of global warming "getting it's act together". This is the simplistic thinking that luls the deluded into thinking it's a sham, when the truth is, they haven't bothered to research what the effects are. Now we'd do well to "get our act together" or prepare for our final one, instead of kicking a dead horse.

Well, it is cold for us in Florida right now but nothing like what all of you up North are putting up with. I still want the snow but not sure I want the -0 numbers. I will still go to South Carolina...it is in the teens there this week.

My were frozen this morning too but we got them thawed in about an hour. It's suppose to start warming up the first of the week. Not warm warm but regular winter temps.
