Oprah's talking Mantyhose...

Check the web for air times in your location. Just Google "Oprah Winfrey Show" and search for a local station. It airs live in Chicago in the mornings (9:00 am CST) and a few other markets, but others will air it on Friday afternoon. (4:00 pm EST in Columbus)

OK, hate to be the bubble-burster for anyone, but... I got a call from the producer this evening, and they had to pull the men's pantyhose segment for tomorrow's show. With the plane crash this afternoon and all the news buzz it generated, as well as a lot of follow-up on whatever they did on today's show, they decided the topic might not be given the time it deserves and that they would like to see. He sounded optimistic that it would run some time. But, in TV-land there's never anything for certain. They're keeping my info on file and if they move with it again in the near future, they'll be contacting me again to participate.

Hi Steve. Really sorry to hear about your cancellation. I am a pantyhose wearer as well and was looking forward to having a man talking about wearing pantyhose on tv. You woudl have had such exposer and it woudl have been wonderful for US pantyhose wearer to let the other guys who wear that it is ok to do so in public and everyday under our cloths. What were you to wear on the show?

Did the show finally air because I'm not able to watch Opera since I work a little late hours more often than not. Is there a transcript or a video link for those of us who missed it?

And by the way, what authority does Oprah have to preach others about what to wear? Some women like to wear pantyhose while others don't and I'm pretty sure the same will go for men. I wish you the best of luck as I already fear you'll be facing a rather intolerant audience.

Ranjit, no nothing's happened thus far. Will be waiting to see what happens. I did note a little blurb in the 4th paragraph of a news item (http://www.accesshollywood.com/oprah-jay-z-pete-wentz-and-more-react-to-obamas-inauguration_article_13157) listing off the reactions of various celebs who attended the inauguration on Tuesday. Oprah was quoted as saying, “I’m front and center and frozen and happy,” Oprah said. “I’m layered and I’m wearing something called men’s pantyhose. I got hot chilies in my hand and hot chilies in my boots!”

Maybe she's doing a little show prep?

I guess Oprah has as much right as anybody to say what she does or doesn't like to wear. The fact that many, many people choose to emulate what she wears and follow what she says it just part of the fact of life that she's a well-liked celebrity. From what I gathered from speaking with her producer, she's also very good to guests on her show and treats them all respectfully. Based on his assurances, I expected that the subject--and myself--would be afforded the opportunity for a fair hearing. Of course, she'll want to ask the question, "Why do men want to wear pantyhose, when so many women are ditchinig them?"

It's a fair enough question, and one that I was looking forward to having the opportunity to answer for the benefit of the large viewing audience. SOOO, I'm not going to get into disparaging her if she doesn't like to wear hose. She's got as much right to that opinion as we guys who DO wear them have to do so.
