I am trying to get more exercise which has been very hard with having a 20 month old that won't leave my side for more than 5 minutes and two teenagers that need to be driven everywhere. My husbands work schedule does not allow him to help out much so its me and my schedule is very fast pace.. I am trying to have some more "me" time which I think is an important part of my mental health seeing I am always the type to put everyone else's needs before mine. I am also trying to eat a better diet and do what I can to have a healthier lifestyle and be a good example to my children.
I am trying to recycle and reuse more things! My goal is to have more compost and recyclables then garbage every week!
My DH and I have also been eating very healthy but we started that last year.
I have started out the new year trying to eat healthier. I am not using the word 'diet' as I think those that do use that term are set for failure. I am still eating well but am watching my calorie intake. This seems to work the best for me. I can still have that brownie that I crave...but have to give up something somewhere else. I am attempting to exercise more. Something I am not fond of. Right now walking more (which may I add Fritz the dog is loving the heck out of!) and taking on a job of watching a 6 month old and a 7 year old daily. They give me a lot of exercise that I normally would not get.
After participating with one of the Dream Team members live chat about New Years resolutions with Connie; I choose a metaphor that provides an inspiring goal to live fabulously in the New Year. I chose ‘spicy’ because it has heat, passion and color. It captures most of what was missing from my life and requires me to grow in a direction that I am excited about. It’s also an image that is very personal. It allows me to define myself for what is exciting and fabulous. I can blend a unique spice just for me and live fabulously.
Overall, I just want to make sure that 2009 is a great year, and the only one who can really control that is me-- so I'm going to take control and make sure it goes amazingly.
In 2008, I managed to maintain my weight.
For 2009, my goal is to lose atleast 25 pounds. If I lose 25 pounds, that will put me at my "GOAL" weight! If I can lose a little more than that, I wouldn't complain! LOL!
Why did I choose my goal weight? If I reach my goal weight, I will weigh 1 pound LESS than my hubby! :)
I am trying to make the most of what I have, and free myself from clutter. I recently realized that my husband and I have accumulated a lot of "stuff" in the past few years. I am trying to reduce that clutter - freeing us to enjoy the things we love more easily!
I also plan to get a fabulous new haircut once the weather turns warmer. I will be donating my hair to Locks of Love!
Easy peasy! I have dubbed this year to "Being Fine In '09" meaning I am going to be making a lot of changes in this upcoming year. First of all, I have already been hitting the gym in order to prep myself for swimsuit season and am eating better in the meantime (less sweets too!). Next, I have made the conscious decision to make this the year I quit smoking once and for all (no more half doing it only to slide back off the wagon). Not only will I be in better health for it, but it has also put a strain on my family/love life which is unneeded stress. Smoking really doesn't offer any positive benefits and there is no need for it. Finally, I am putting forth more of an effort to spend valuable time with friends and family. Before you know it, everything can be ripped out from under you so why not live for today?
I am trying very hard to eat healthier. Without going into my medical issues I can't exercise like normal people. Therefore, I have to concentrate harder on my diet to also help control my weight as well as feeling good about myself. And of course, it will improve my appearance and my health.
These would be a nice little perk me up.
Have a good day folks.
Happy is good for your health.
With some luck after those two years I'll also be lighter and in better shape!
I am looking for a "positive spin" in all the situations that are my life every day. Working harder to do a good deed every day, makes me feel great! Working harder on eating correctly everyday throughout the month, not just the first two weeks after my check, and it is a challenge. I can only allow so much for groceries. Fruit and veggies are very high. I have really limited my salt intake. Just a tad. I substiture Mrs. Dash, lemon pepper and such. I stay away from too many sweets, and my favorite, chocolate, I make sure I eat the correct Dark Chocolate to get the health benefits that it contains. I have cut down on coffee. I am working hard on quitting smoking. I have joined Resolutions 2009, and have received some great help in keeping my resolutions, not forgetting about them.
I have put my self through an "overhaul", working on personal problems I feel affect my relationships. I try to leave all the "old baggage" behind. I am trying to be a better person, and I am definitely trying to write more. I am trying to be "good to me". I know that will extend to all those I meet. And most of all, trying to NOT give my opinion to those close to me, unless asked for it. Ellen B
I rejoined Weight Watchers last November and so far I lost six pounds.
I am walking more - I pace for 40 minutes every day.
I have been eating more fruits and veggies. I have been a vegetarian for over 20 years, but vegetarians can eat most candy and chips.
I take more time for fun and try to laugh every day. I also listen to music more this year.
I have always been a health nut, but I have to keep redefining myself. It is easy to forget to exercise or to overeat.
I have two kittens that we adopted last month. Pets make life so much more wonderful. There are four other cats and three dogs in our household, so I should know.
I am spending more time on my hair and make-up. I get pretty busy sometimes and it is easy to rush out the door without lipstick or with messy hair.
i am taking steps to get healthy and stay healthy, i am hopeing to color my hair later this year:)
i would love the chance to taste them and review then , i luv the 100 calarie packs:)
Besides loosing weight and getting in shape (Which I am doing fairly well, only 35 more lbs to loose to obtain my goal), I plan to laugh and smile more often through out thsi New Year. Last year was so stressful that it took the joy out of many times I took for granted. Not anymore, when my colors a picture for me, I will smile. When she wants to get one of two barbies to a friend, I will smile. I will laugh at my middle childs corny jokes. I plan on looking at everything for its beauty with my eyes wide open.
As a result, the first thing I'm doing is making an effort to cook every single night (rather than opting for take-out, which I tell you, is a seriously tempting alternative at the end of each day with my three kids aged 4 and under!). Each night this week, I've tried a new recipe from a Rachael Ray cookbook, and plan to have myself, my husband and my oldest child (who is 4) rate each one on a scale of 1 to 10, 1 meaning 'yuck! Gross! Never again!' and 10 meaning 'this is so divine that we should eat it every.single.night!' After a few months, we'll have a nice slate of brand new, family-approved go-to meals to replace items on our nasty take-out habit list.
We're also hitting the fitness trail, and walking every single day. The two older kids alternate time walking with time riding in the double stroller (baby brother either rides along or with me in a sling), and we all end up getting a good workout by the time we get home again. We also take along antibacterial hand gel, rubber gloves and plastic bags - one for trash and one for recyclables - and clean up a little along our way. It gives me a chance to demonstrate the importance of taking care of the Earth and our community by cleaning up when others don't do it for themselves. The kids love helping to pick up bottles and cans, and I love encouraging them to be responsible with our resources. And as a little bonus, we trade in the cans and bottles for change at the local recycling center, and use the money for a treat!
That's how I'm living fabulously in 2009.
As for the Cakesters... oh, they do look delicious, and I'm always looking for well-portioned, on-the-go snacks to take along while we're out and about. As one who tends to overeat when given something yummy, the pre-portioning is ideal for me. I've never tried them, but I'm sure we'd be big fans of that creamy-cakey-chocolatey goodness. Thanks for your consideration.
We are all getting more exercise. My husband and I mall walk regularly and daughter has an exercise class. We take our cameras out together, so we are spending more time together.
I am always looking for lower calorie foods at the grocery store. Its easier to lose weight when you lower the calories that are on our plates. We all have more energy and get more done in a day.
This is something that my husband and I are doing together. I quit smoking, cold turkey a little over a week ago and my husband is on a diet. Hes always been a big guy and hes tired of it. USually diets dont work for him or they dont last, but this time he's sticking to it.
Together we are working out more by talking long walks, and we are eating healthier. Even thoe the bad habits we are trying to change are different, we are stil supporting eatchother and its bringing us closer. One way we are rewarding ourselfs is by taking a vacation with some friends and NO kids for a week. We all need some time to connect with our spouses and this is one of those times. I'm so excited.
My husband and I are determined to shed a few pounds but also to teach our children to eat healthy, be active and enjoy life.
These low cal snacks would be a first step into eating something much better for him. And, hopefully slowing down the ill effects of his current poor diet.
Our family would be delighted to try this product and see how it goes.
For my hubby's sake and health, I would be very grateful to try and give a review.
I'm working at serving my family better meals, eating out less than in 2008 (which was, in itself, a big improvement over 2007), and getting back to the gym. I'd love to end 2009 at my goal weight, and I'd love to see my husband there with me.
I dont belive in making resolutions , every year that I ever have made one I end up breaking it by about the first week, Instead I thought about where I wanted my life to be by the end of this up coming year and Decided that the best I can do for me is to just embrace being me to the best of my ability
I need to stop tring to change myself to fit in the world around me, and instead try to make my world fit me.
No amount of weigh loss , dye jobs, job changes will ever make me happy unless Iam first happy with who iam on the inside.
So this year I decided to embrace me to learn to love me for every gray hair, every wrinkle and every extra pound I might pocess, that does not meant I will not try to eat healthier, exercise more, or love deeper it just simple means that this year I wont beat myself up if i dont lose a massive amount of weight, become rich and famous, or fall short of my real goals in life, which are just learning to be happy and content with what I have and not what I wish things could be like.
*Starting my day on a positive note
*Doing at least one nice thing for someone without being asked
*Every time I say/think something negative, I also come up with two positives
These are the major things, but I also have small things that are making ME feel better about myself and just life in general. Some of these include worrying less, no more nit-picking, and doing some things to help the environment whenever possible.
Good luck to everyone!
Thank you gather and wishing that everyone are able to put their plans in motion and make the most out of the new year.Take care!
I also plan on decluttering the house and attempting to reorganize things.
I snack on healthy foods now. I've become more aware of the bad foods I use to eat. This site is sooooo inspiring.
Thank goodness for the 100 calorie snacks!
Fast food is very similar to the habit I used to have with TV (used to watch it a lot for entertainment, and I was a broadcasting major so I watched way too much news)--I thought I would really miss it when I dramatically cut back, but after awhile you don't even think about it anymore. It's just a matter of establishing a good habit to replace the old one. It doesn't mean we never watch TV or eat fast food, but it's all about finding a good balance in your life.
I'm making and living by resolutions that come at life from the "glass half full" perspective:
I resolve to travel overseas this year, to sing more, to spend more time with my friends, to be outdoors with nature, to have a huge garden this summer, that sort of thing.
I am newly married (two weeks!) and expecting baby number 3 in April. I am already feeling fabulous, and anxious to start my new life as a wife and mother of three. However, finding time for me will be a lot more difficult this year with a new husband and three children, all of whom will probably command most of my attention, but my plan is to always make time for myself, whenever time permits. My girlfriends and I plan to get together at least once a month for "Girl's Night In/Out". My husband and I have committed ourselves to a date night at least once a month, just the two of us, and I am anxiously looking forward to a Girlfriends Getaway after my son is born. All of these things will allow me to saty in tune with my friends and family while enjoying some personal time with the people that I love.
2009 is my time to shine!
In an attempt to become healthier and happier, my husband and I decided to join the gym. However, we then found out that I am pregnant, so my goal this year is to take care of myself and my body. My last pregnancy I gained an extreme amount of weight, so this time I am focusing on eating healthier options, and exercising to maintain a steady, healthy weight gain. Afterwards, I plan to work hard to lose the pregnancy weight that took me so long to shed last time.
