Adages Gone Wrong (Don't Horse A Deadbeat)

We know them, we've heard them, little pieces of wisdom that seem so trite, so cliche', yet there is no denying their truth. OR, is there? Let us see. I will start with a few of my own and hopefully you will help me add to the list of ADAGES GONE WRONG:

Throw away the bird in hand and dive into the bush.

If you make a horse drink, you will never lead it to water.

One bad stitch will lead to nine

This is a great topic. Somewhere in a box I haven't unpacked yet, I have a long list of sayings I don't like. I hope to write an article about them one day.

The one I hate most is ignorance is bliss. Too many people have bought into it.

I also dislike if you have nothing good to say, don't say anything at all, because I think it is dangerous to society. We must speak up when something is wrong.

I think it's funny that we have both, absence make the heart grow fonder and out of sight, out of mind.

If I find that list, or my mind, I'll be back.

The head banging question is a standard late eighties early nineties punk/grunge colloquialism. That which does not kill me can still hurt is so fucking obvious that when I saw it on john k.'s profile statement I smacked my forehead and then sent a friend request. After some banter he accepted. He is a talented writer and I have not checked his stuff out as much as I should. It is worth looking at.

Possibly true. However. It is certainly easier to steal a pen without a gun than it is with one. It is rarely easy to steal a gun, pen or no.
