 Joe Cocker-  With a Little help from my friends (Woodstock '69)

 

 

Now I may be one of the biggest Beatles fans around. They are one of my all time favorite groups. I have to say though that I like Joe Cocker's version better. You won't hear me say that about to many of the Beatle's songs.

Although the Beatles is a classic, I do enjoy Joe Cocker's version best. It is filled with a great deal of passion.

The beatles did it in that special time in all our lives, the times of Woodstock and Joe Cocker had a more of a dark side and a more wistful quality
I like them bothas though they were different tunes altogether.

Yes it is David. We all like different types of music and groups so it is perfectly understandable that some may not like any of the choices at all. I will remember to include that as a choice next time.

Georgiana - I totally agree with what you said. I too like them both but I like the feeling and passion in Joe Cocker's version.

They're both okay. I'm not a big fan of the song, so I'm not voting either way.

Interesting note, though: Cocker was really good friends with the Beatles who allowed him to do the song (thus helping him get his foot in the door).

I've always loved the Beatles. But, their version of this song stinks.

I was all prepared to say the Beetles classic version, but then I listened to the Joe Cocker one, and I have to say I really like that.

I'm a big Beatles fan, but I have to admit that I like the Joe Cocker version better. I just hate the way he performs, though.

Cocker, for sure. That version was much more of a blues/rock version than the Beatles. A lot of Beatles tunes sounded better when done by other bands. Brazil 66 even did some great versions of Beatles tunes. McCartney's Wings tunes often sounded better live than in the studio. They were excellent song writers, but they may have suffered from overproduction.

Having said what I just said, nothing (I have heard) beats the Beatles versions of Paperback Writer, Dizzy Miss Lizzy, or Revolution.

Never cared much for the Beatles, Other than a couple of their songs. Ringo is ugly. The only one I liked much is Paul M. as to Joe blah he sounds like a drunk trying to make puke music. Neither.
