A Rant For Group Owners
by Marilyn Mackenzie
Everyone knows that the most time consuming part of posting anything is the selection of groups, especially if you're clicking through a list of hundreds of groups to do the selection. It's so much faster to enter a few letters into the window at the top of your list of groups.
See? If I enter the letters "any", my list shows all groups starting with those three letters. It's much faster to select them this way. This is a great way to make group selections if what I've written needs to be posted solely in groups having to do with "women" or "snow" or any number of other specialties.

The problem is that if a group owner has decided to name his/her group
***!!!anything you can imagine***!!! so that the group is at the top of the list instead of where it should be alphabetically, selecting it this way doesn't work at all unless - somehow - you can remember what and how many weird characters the group owner has attached to the beginning of the group name.
If I type "any" into that window, the group ***!!!anything you can imagine***!!! will not appear. If I type the characters ***, I suppose it will appear. But how would I remember that's how the group name starts?!?!?!?!
That's my rant for the day. What's yours?

Grrr. I know that I'm a member of a few groups with "rant" in their names, but trying to find them by typing "rant" into the window has not worked. Now I have to go through the entire list of groups to find the ones I want. Or I can just post to the one I found - about venting - instead.

The same is also true for member names when composing a mail message. I often struggle to locate people in the list because of odd characters.
