Excitement around here tonight...

We had a bit of excitement here tonight. There was a fire around 5 this evening right behind our house. Behind our house is a field and then a few other homes. The fire was about 200 yards away from our house and we sat and watched this house burn for 5 minutes waiting for the fire department to get there. There ended up 7 fire trucks, the fire chief, and ambulance and another emergency vehicle I didn't recognize. One house and a trailer were totally lost. It was close enough for us to hear the flames and the water hitting them once they started figthting it. I could not believe how many people drove there vehicles to the field and were in the way of the fire fighting efforts.  If it would have been windy at all those flames would have rushed right across the field with how dry it is.

first of all glad it was not closer to your home, second, I hope no one was hurt, thirdly, what are these people thinking getting in the way of FD apparatus?? It makes me mad when people are too dumb to use common sense in an emergency situation..
Wow, that's scary. Glad there was no wind and hopefully in spite of all the people getting in the way (what's up with people having to get to a fire or any emergency and get in the way?), and also glad that you're OK.

Wow. Probably something to see. It is so hard when people get in the way. It's hard to do your job when people think they have a right to be there. In a way it's true as fire departments are run on taxpayers money. If that fire had hit that field, some of those people in the field might not have made it out. A field fire will run very fast.
I am glad your family was safe and hopefully everyone made it out of the house.
I don't understand how kids get a hold of matches. Fires start so easy and get out of control so fast.

they thought a fire around here at Thanksgiving was caused by the boy playing with matches, turned out it was the clothes dryer.

I'm not sure who that boy is doing after being accused for burning his home down, . . .

we get that scare sometimes too when its really dry, cuz we have 15 acres of grass, around grass, and it can spread fast. but thankfully nothing happened to yall and nothing happened to us :)
