This weekend is supposed to be bitter cold here. So I decided, since today wasn't too bad that I would take a walk around my yard and look for signs of winter and interesting things. This is what I came up with.
This is from my holly bush. It was one of a few things that had life yet.

This little bird was all puffed up trying to stay warm.

My frog statue looked like leap frog in the snow. Allie was checking something out!

I found this growing out of an old tree stump.

My husband likes to put interesting pieces of wood in the yard. This is one covered in snow.

He also likes cool looking rocks. When my flowers are blooming these things look great mixed around them as decorations.

This froggy thing is my rain catcher. As you can see it is just ice now.

Somewhere we found an old stone birdbath top but it was missing a bottom, so we used a tree stump.

This was the most interesting thing I found. We have wood and sticks behind our shed so that we can use them in our campfires in the summer. I guess this is some kind of mushroom growing on it.

Gather has helped me even find the beauty in things in the dead of winter. I hope you enjoyed them.

Winter is one of those things I tend to look out the window at.
As always, thanks for any comments you have left me in the past couple of weeks. I am late at catching up.

I also wanted to say thank you for your really kind comments on my train show photos. I'm so glad you enjoyed them. It was a great show!
Thank you for welcoming me back too sweetie.
Husband STILL has not taken his camera out of the box. He says he's waiting until he has time to read the instructions. He had a week off from work after Christmas! I hope he's not waiting until he retires, because I don't know if that's ever gonna happen. He has a habit of doing things like this. He has approx 2 dozen DVDs that are unopened waiting until he retires to start watching them. Or until he gets a wide screen TV, whichever comes first. I hate to tell him, but I don't think either one will come in this lifetime!
You must live in a warmer zone than me if you can grow that variegated holly. It's really pretty.
As much as I dislike winter, there is a lot of beauty in it.
