Well, there was school today. The weather isn't nearly as bad as it was supposed to be this morning, but there's still the over hanging threat of crappy weather this afternoon. I called and talked to the doctor's office, and they said they were supposed to get hit pretty hard over there. They let me reschedule without a fee, though, so I don't have to try and drive over there right now.
The kids were unhappy that there was school today, but they'll get over it. ;)
I went and grabbed a few things this morning- last night, Nick promised to make me hash browns this morning if school was canceled. Then it sounded so good, we decided breakfast for dinner was what we would do tonight for food. Only, we did not have enough hash browns or eggs, and had no pancake mix, bread for french toast, sausage or bacon.
I went in and grabbed bread, eggs, hash browns, cheese, sausage, and syrup for the french toast. Mmm... that sounds so goo right now.
On Tuesdays I help out in Gilly's class. The only time I've missed so far was last week, when I wasn't sleeping well. Her teacher sounded pretty desperate for me to be in today. What I do to start off with is put together the Tuesday folders. They send home folders once a week on Tuesday, filled with notes from the school and teachers, homework assignments that are completed, new homework, and other odds and ends. Sometimes it only takes me 20 minutes. Other times, it takes me 90 minutes, if there are a lot of things, especially homework coming back.
I have to sort it all out, and get it in the right folders. It's not that tough to do, but I can see it being a long process if you are the teacher trying to do it when you have to have your attention on the kids. Quite often, the school is bringing extra packets of papers around to the class rooms at the end of the day on Tuesday, expecting them to go home that day. It doesn't leave a lot of organizational time to do it the night before.
After that's done, I help him by putting things up around the room, taking stuff down, and keeping an eye on the kids from time to time, and prepare things for future lessons. Overall, it's probably not the most relaxing way to spend a Tuesday, but I don't mind it at all. I get to be around Gillian a bit more, and I know what's going on in the classroom.
Wow, I can't get my mind off the food. I'm hungry! Trouble is, the only thing that sounds good is hash browns and french toast right now. ;)
