I sat in chaos, hiding my tears,
You waited for death to end your fears.
My world was broken, gray and bleak,
You came to paint for just one week.
I refused to talk, eat or smile,
You brought lasagna and stayed awhile.
I had no strength or joyful glow,
You colored my world and made me grow.
A decade later you still cherish my heart,
While I nurtured your spirit from the start.
Two halves of a whole, together we're one,
A decade together spent sharing the sun.
