For My Son and His Wife (my daughter through love) on Their Third Anniversary

Crystal beauty, a clarity and strength, formed in only three journeys about our daily light,

And you, together, forged a bond, a covering, a protection from the gravest blight;

I see the strength of man who loves his God, who loves his wife,

Who seizes virtue and fights for right.

I see a loving woman, a mother, a defender of God, family, home.

I see a quieter strength, that lets me know man's not alone,

This spirit in the home, flesh of flesh, and bone of bone,

Will fight when he is weak, no I am not fooled by spirit meek.

I feel such pride and love in the home you have begun.

I thank God that you have included Him in all you've done.                          

Fail not young hearts.  You have already come so far, worked so hard.

Weaker men and women would have failed.

Yet good and right in you prevailed.

Not sickness, nor weaker men who did not have the faith,

Nor family, nor fallen friend, nor past mistakes,

Nothing has pierced the hide of  hope and faith,

To reach the heart, strong with love so great

And you, my dears, have blessed this mother's heart,

Knowing that you will not rend nor part

What God hath joined, anointed, ordained

Til one of you hath Heaven gained.
