Bonding Over Cake

A few days ago, I went grocery shopping with my best friend (who is staying with us) and her 12 year old daughter (who lives at her dad's but comes over and spends the night during the month). She said that she'd never baked a cake so I bought a cake mix, frosting and a few decorations to put on top.

Though it was assumed that I would do the cake with the 12 Year Old, I thought it would be nice for my best friend to do it since they are getting to spend more time with each other.

My best friend does not normally cook so I had to take pictures of this bonding event. ;)

So in the end, my best friend was the once who did a cake. It turned out that the daughter only wanted to eat the frosting! But at least they were in the kitchen together and had a nice time.

It does look like fun....I could skip the frosting...everyone at my house picks off the frosting and throws it away.
