Refocusing My Gathering Habits -- Step Five: Visiting Individuals More Often

When I come to Gather, I tend to go through the last few pages of the feed on the front page...and generally, I limit that to posts. What I don't end up doing often is heading to individual people's pages (other than with new friend requests).

I feel like I miss out on quite a lot with how I generally do it, but time-wise, that's how it usually ends up. Now that the holidays are over and I'm going to have more time again (hopefully, haha), then it's definitely something I want to change.

I have been trying to do that more too. I think it will hlp everyone a lot in the long run. When I comment on someone's post, I then go to their page and do a few more comments on pics or posts.

I tend to look at the feeds first, too. I do keep a sperate category on my friends list for the friends I track the most and one for family so I make sure i do not miss any of their stuff. Then I try to pick out a friend that I do not know as well and check out their stuff. I wish we had some way we could track out friends and check mark themor put a date when we last visited them.

Me too, I do it much the same was as you do, then I see who has commented on my stuff, and then I pay them a visit, and comment on something of theirs.

i wish that i could spend more time on individuals, but time constraints leave me focusing mainly on the feeds... i do try to focus most on the people who I know comment on my content, though... :) i do have two jobs besides gathering...

I cover it all and basically work forward from where I last left off. That way at least I scan everything that's out there. I typically view and rate 98% of it and comment on at least 70%. I cleared out my connnections of a lot of people who left or who don't comment back. That's made keeping up a bit easier.

Yeah, I'm sure it has, Marianne. I'm not one of those who really cares if someone comments back on my stuff, though. I enjoy viewing other people's content, regardless of their commenting habits.
I view the posts feeds until I get to the content that I have already seen. I tend to not look at pictures as often.

You know what else that very few people do? Visit the groups for which you are a member. The moderators (some) go to great lengths selecting the articles to feature. Sometimes you'll miss some great articles if you don't ever visit the groups to which you belong.
