Flux is defin
ed as 'a continual change'. This change can apply in the material world as well as in the world of the spirit. Nothing stands still; it is either in motion, or it is dead. The earth, the planets, the stars, are all in motion. Religion, too, is either moving forward, or it is dead. The world has known both kinds.
Newton's Third Law of Motion states 'For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction'. His 'laws' govern behaviors in the physical realm. The forces governing this law can be caused by friction, tension, gravity , electricity or magnetism.
In the world of the spirit we read, "...whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap". (Galatians 6:7-8). This, too, shows actions and consequences, cause and effect. The laws of cause and effect form an important part of the Buddhist religion.
This law helps to explain events occuring in the world today and throughout history. When God sends a new Messenger or Divine Teacher to mankind to move His religion forward and the people to whom this Teacher is sent deny Him, persecute or kill Him, there is a consequence to be paid. Entire religious communities are made to suffer for centuries thereafter until such time as God deems it appropriate to render forgiveness. At one time it is the followers of one religion, today it is another.
We may be utterly perplexed and dismayed at what we see and hear on the news every day of our lives. We may be at a complete loss to understand the causes of these horrifying events. Perhaps a deeper knowledge of history and of the laws of cause and effect will help us understand the events of our modern world and relieve our anxiety concerning God's plan for mankind.

The interesting thing that seems to escape even the best of minds, though, is this fundamental fact when we come to the subject of religion. Although all people are doomed to experience change and only change, they tend to FEAR AND ABHOR change at the same time. They cannot realize that it is the CHANGING that makes life the wonderful thing that it is if seen in the proper perspective. So, why is this?
It is -- I propose -- that we, although carnally animals by nature, are also spiritual beings capable of operating "mindfully" beyond the restrictions of our carnal, materially dynamic bodies. Whether we realize it or not, we are also simultaneously part of a totally static environment that is "the other world." The "Sun" of that world is the inexplicable "something" that we call God for want of a better term. Or "Allah", etc. Yet it is that "Sun" which warms us and nurtures us. And since in THAT PART of our present "dual state" (i.e. the spiritual world "ying" to our material world "yang") nothing is dynamic but eternally static (in fact, it is by definition "eternal" since IT IS static), our spiritually excited ESSENCE yearns for the "static state". We therefore, want to make our "religious life" fit a static mold, and we resist change.
The problem is that we are currently living in the dynamic environment and trying to apply those static principles (love, consideration, etc.) to our dynamic environment. So that our carnal side wins "the fall" when we "organize" the empirical religious application to everyday life. We do this in spite of the fact that those Who bring us "INSIGHTS" into the warmth of the static "Sun" (God) specifically stipulate and teach that religion, which is the process of adapting static principles to our dynamic envirornment, is also dynamic as applied in our dynamic world. The end result is that we inevitably resist recognizing that God speaks to us in dynamic terms that adapt to our changing social evolution which is a part of our worldly dynamic reality as a living carnal organism.
